These three young men need to face the consequences of their actions. Not their fraternity, unless they were in a chapter meeting and announced their intentions and were encouraged by the rest of the group. They should be suspended or expelled, but Fiji's as a group are not responsible.

Dean Wermer and his cronies need to understand that, as well as grasp the numbers: Almost 2/3 of all monies donated to universities by alumni comes from those who were Greeks. That is nothing to sneeze at.

I stand corrected!

If a few members did this then THEY should be gone and not the whole Chapter, but I find this so abominal.

But, the problem is, that the total Chapter will feel reprisals.:(

Word gets around very quickly on Campus. They will suffer for it anyway in the long run.:o

As many people have already said, an act of this magnitude and nature deserves a consequence of some level, once the facts have been sorted out and due process served. With that in mind punishing an organization, be it my own or a rival group for the actions of a few members is rarely a good thing. In the long term the precedent set by decisions like this one are what allows other Universities to justify their decisions that effect an entire chapter but are based on the actions of an individual. We all know that we represent our organizations name in every act we do, even if we do not want to, but that does not mean that everything we do was decided on by our chapter. One can only imagine where this type of sanctioning could go in the future...

"One can only imagine where this type of sanctioning could go in the future..."

I can imagine it. My chapter was the victim of it, and that's why I am so opposed to "group punishment." It should be opposed on all levels. Too many administrators feel they have unchallenged power and so they are bullies. Bullies continue to be bullies until someone punches them in the nose.
