It's hard to place yourself, since the Canadian political spectrum is different from the US political spectrum. For example, our new Conservative party is considered quite right wing by Canadian standards, but wouldn't be viewed as right as the Conservatives in the US.

But I'm splitting hairs... :)

According to the quiz I am considered a left liberal.

Peaches-n-Cream 06-29-2004 07:20 AM

I am guessing that I am about a 4 using KR's scale.

I thought that liberals were actually the higher number. I remember participating in Model Congress in high school. I was Senator Metzenbaum of Ohio. He was about a 97 out of 100 which made him the most liberal Senator at the time. That was fun.

Geeky Penguin ---> 4

I'm an 80/40 left-liberal on that quiz.

_Opi_ 06-29-2004 12:01 PM

a 4 ...

on the Canadian scale.

OrigamiTulip 06-29-2004 12:16 PM

I find that I've grown a just a little less liberal as I've gotten older, so I would say that I'm either a 2 or a 2.5.... :D

2.25

edited: darn I wish I could settle on a number

I took that self-gov.org test and was a left-liberal 60/20 was my score. Seems about right for me.

Left-Liberals prefer self-government in personal matters and central decision-making on economics. They want government to serve the disadvantaged in the name of fairness. Leftists tolerate social diversity, but work for economic equality.

Remember, everyone, you need to post a number between 1 and 10 with 10 being the most conservative, to be figured it the poll :)

Well the self-gov.org quiz has me at 34% libertarian, 30% centrist and then 18% left-liberal.

I'm not sure where that'd put me on your 1-10 scale. Put me down for "5"

You need to read that again....

2,966,723 users have taken the quiz so far. Results are renewed after each submission

Libertarian 34.86 %
Left-liberal 18.96 %
Centrist 30.11 %
Right-Conservative 7.39 %
Authoritarian 8.68 %

Those percentages are for EVERYONE who has taken the test...percentage of total population falls along this scale.

KillarneyRose 06-30-2004 08:02 PM

So far, we have an average of 4.5

swissmiss04 06-30-2004 08:28 PM

The self-gov quiz put me firmly within the libertarian section and a bit to the left. So I probably am your 4.5 average.

The1calledTKE 06-30-2004 08:32 PM

2.5

SilverTurtle 06-30-2004 10:41 PM

According to the quiz:

According to your answers, your political philosophy is centrist.

Centrist
Centrists favor selective government intervention and emphasize practical solutions to current problems. They tend to keep an open mind on new issues. Many centrists feel that government serves as a check on excessive liberty.

-I disagree with that last statement.

For Killarney's poll, I'd say I'm about 2.5 or 3.
