eBay Screen Names
Ladies (particularly mods). I'd like to suggest that we post a thread and pin it that lists our eBay names. I see that there is an A-Phi bidding on one of these pins right now. I won't bid against a sister for a pin, but I think I might have recently done so -- unknowingly. So if we could get a master list going of at least the GC A-Phis that would help us rescue pins and do so for less money (hopefully!).
It makes no sense (at least to me) to get into a bidding war with an Alpha Phi sister over a relatively ordinary pin -- just to rescue it. In the case of extraordinary pins, I can understand the desire to own one and compete with a sister for it. But generally, we're all out for the same goal and that's to keep the pins out of the hands of collectors and other non-Alpha Phis. We can buy a standard Alpha Phi pin from Masters of Design for cheaper than a lot of these standard pins are going for and I think it could many times be sister vs. sister (unknowingly) for the sake of saving it. Just my thoughts. :-) /G |
Hi ladies:
Here's another badge I thought you should see. It's a beauty! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...926821945&rd=1 Amanda Dyer Delta Gamma |
FYI - I know the person bidding on the pin above (keithandkim) she's an alpha phi....
|
And one of our sisters on this board won the badge with the sapphire. The seller was scholarship chair at the time and yes I am kinda peeved that she put the badge on ebay, but I am hella glad that a CA in CA won it!

Well I hope I haven't been bidding against Phi's for the 2 pins I got this week. One is going to replace the one I had stolen 12 years ago and hopefully one of the chapters in Colorado will be able to use the other one. I'll watch closer next time.

Here's a badge on ebay that says it's a "lazy Alpha Phi"?.

HI,
I looked carefully at this badge...I do NOT think it is a lazy Phi pin...But that is just my opinion... There was anopther sorority named Alpha Theta around the same time (don't know much about it...) but their pins looked like this one. Lazy Phi's are very distinct in their Phi...Althought this one is beautiful - the negraving is pretty... Some of the first Alpha Phi pins were also cut from one piece of gold... Any other thoughts??? I was thinking the same thing...that the "Alpha" was intertwined with a "Theta", not a "Phi" turned on its side.
And *most* but certainly not *all* of the old Lazy Phi badges have the middle cross-bar of the "Alpha" in a "v" shape rather than straight across. |
We did have the issue of custom badges back in the day though.
Anyone want to contact the seller and ask how they know for sure that it's an Alpha Phi badge, and not an Alpha Theta badge? |
I agree that it looks like a "theta" not a "phi." The tail of the "phi" is usually longer in "lazy Phi"-style badges.
It is a gorgeous pin though! I still think we need to keep a master list somewhere of all the people we know to be Alpha Phis. If it is OK with the moderators, I'd like to start that thread. |
sorry to crash but a BIN of $5000?! I wonder what the reserve is....
