Okay, so I have a g-mail account... but I don't seem to be generating any invites. Do you have to specifically request them, or am I missing something?

How long have you had yours? I've had mine about 3 days and am still waiting for these invites.

I'm not really worried though. I've got mine (thanks again!)

From what I understand its all about how much email you send (& possibly receive) from the gmail account before you'll generate invites!

Ginger 06-22-2004 01:43 PM

aha.... yes, I haven't used the account much yet, so that could be why.

Thanks!

You know, there are other fee schedules available from them. You can get as few as 2 hours a month, I think. It might be worth calling about. If you throw a fit and threaten to leave, they come out of the woodwork with other price packages just to keep you as a customer... I've even gotten a free month from them just for not cancelling. From what I understand, the cancellation dept. has "incentives" they can use to make "saves."

It's kind of like Dell. If you call in with a customer service problem, the rep. can give you up to $150 worth of products from Dell. If you order a computer from them, call in the 1st 30 days threatening to send it back and the special dept. (that's set up just to try and keep you from doing a return) is authorized to give you more than that. -- Useless info from a former Dell employee (myself)

I am fomrer AOL employee too and i think i am going to try to get saves to get me 2 free months by trying to quit. I know there tactives i use tow ork in billing......

i just g ot a dell at chrismtas time and i got the free 6 months a nd so it ends onthe 28th i just dont like $23 a month so i might either quiet them or reduce down to the other price plans. has anyone tried People PC?

It took me about a week to get my invites. I didn't even notice that I had them. They were a red link up on the top of the page. Not too big, no email telling me I had them or anything.

Yahoo has the best email service!

I've used everything, and Gmail is definitely the best so far.

And the invites will be on the top of the page under the search bar in red.

Definitely.

I love how it does conversations. I'm the recorder for my alum chapter and just sent out an email asking everyone to update their bio with me. I've started getting mails back and it saves them all under one heading. I open it and it has little file tabs for each message (or I can just open 'em all up).

It makes hotmail look silly.

My favorite thing is how it has labels rather than folders - because I have so many emails that go under both "Gamma Phi" and "Amanda" or "Bills" and "Family" or whatever, it's nice to be able to track. :)

I love that part of Gmail...and also how I have 1000MB of space!

Woo hoo!

This is great since my yahoo hates me after it upgraded and my school account has been overtaken by spammers.

Yep. I just think it's so freaking smooth compared to everything else out there. It literally blows everyone else away in terms of ease of use and just sheer ability to organize your stuff.

I probably sent that last email out to 80+ people. Now if I get 80+ replies, they'll all be organized all nice and neat and under one heading.

I need to have the power of invites though. Only then will I be
