I would like to add that to my list too!! I especially feel proud to have CJ as my sister and that I got the opportunity to be one of the girls to stand by her side here in Akron!! |
I felt really proud to be an Alpha Epsilon Phi when:
- I attended my initiation (ok, that's a gimme :) ) - I signed my chapter's charter - I saw some awesome new members walk through our door on bid day - My fundraising co-chair and I put together our first-ever full-scale charity fundraiser. We managed to pull off something on the scale of the other sororities' annual fundraisers, despite having about 1/10th the people, and we underestimated attendance by 50% and kept having to run out to grab more chairs :) - Every time my sisters have been by my side when I've been going through hard times... and every time I've done the same for them. |
I felt REALLY proud to be an Alpha Gamma Delta when:
-I was initiated -My whole chapter donated money toward a sisters' dues after her father lost his job and she suddenly had no money -My sister-daughters were initiated (especially the second one because she had been through a LOT) -After "cleaning house" at a chapter, I saw a very strong woman meet with our International Officers and convince them that the remaining women could make a difference on campus, being the leaders of the alcohol free/haze free movement (and they successfully did so!) -Attending a reception in honor of our founder, Emily Helen Butterfield, when she was inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 1990. -Looking around at the sea of white at the Initiation ceremony during the first Convention that I attended in 1993, and receiving my first alumna honor that same night. -Every "Living Circle" at the end of Convention, where we gather as sisters and sing. -Attending our collegiate awards luncheon at Convention, every time. -Watching our Distinguished Citizen's presentations at each Convention -Attending IRD (International Reunion Day), a statewide luncheon for all Alpha Gams and looking around the room at the amazing women in attendance, young and old. -Feeling the warmth and caring from all of my alumnae club sisters, GC sisters, every sister I meet, no matter what the circumstances. -Suddenly finding myself on a first name basis with our International Officers after working with them in a variety of volunteer positions over the years. -Every single time I read, hear, or recite our Purpose Dee |
When I first got my letters and got the respect of every person I've ever met on campus, including someone who I've known all my life, hadn't talked to in forever, but was prouder than anyone when I first wore my letters on campus. They were a set of letters they guys got when they first were colonized, that all matched. Hell yeah!! I wore my big brothers.
And every day of my life since then. |
Another time before that was when we got our pledge buttons. We were a colony, so that's what everyone wore, so it was like from then on, unless we fucked up totally and turned into a dick, we were brothers. Not really offically, and not according to our Marshal (at least at the time anyway) but looking back, that was the (tied for) second proudest day of my life. The other second was when we got iniatated and when we got installed. I am a Founding Father of Iota Zeta Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity, for those of you who don't know me.

I felt REALLY proud to be a Brother of Alpha Phi Omega when I returned to IU to attend my chapter's 75th anniversary banquet. It was about 4 years after I left and I didn't know any of the actives, since everyone who'd been active when I was there had graduated already. Nevertheless, the actives made me and the other alumni who came to banquet feel so welcome, and there was such an amazing feeling of brotherhood the whole time. I can't even put it into words.

I was most proud to be an ALPHA CHI OMEGA:
- at every Pref Night, most of all my own - when 9/11 happened and i was a freshman, all alone and scared, and my brand new sisters were there to comfort me - when my big sister got Highest Honors on her thesis - when my little was elected to Honor Council - when my chapter elected me VP Recruitment - i'm amazed that they trust me so much - when we won the Greek Award for Best Member Education program - when my sisters tell me that i'm doing a great job as an officer - when i meet other AXOs and find out that they love me just for being a sister - when i realize that there would be a hole left in my heart if anything happened to any of them |

I can honestly say that I have been REALLY proud to be a member of Alpha Delta Pi from the moment the bid card was placed in my hand!
|
First of all, I want to say that reading everything that has been posted here makes me SO proud to be GREEK, regardless of affiliation!
Things that make me proud to be an ADPi: -Everytime I read about our founding -Looking at pics of me and my friends at chapter events -My best friends and I seeing each other through hard times, and realizing that if it wasn't for ADPi, I would not have these wonderful women in my life -Hearing nice things about my sorority from members of other GLO's -Having random people stop me when I'm wearing letters, and having them tell me that their wife/sister/mother is an ADPi -I feel proud any time I see my letters anywhere -Every time I wear my badge |
I felt really proud to be an AST when....
~ Everytime I wear my letters or my badge!! ~ My chapter was complimented on how many of my sisters showed up to Greek Week events ~ Raising enough money to help the Michigan Human Society buy items on their wish list. ~ When I walked into the funeral parlor and saw 2 vases full of yellow roses when my grandma died and randomly throughout the evening diferent sisters showing up...one even snuck in her new kitten at the time! ~ My entire chapter decided it was time to turn around and rebuild and start a new leaf. ~ A sister and I driving out to KY to help with a reading camp that is ran through our national philanthropy. there A LOT more but those are the ones that stick out the most in my mind. |
... Every time I turn on the TV and see First Lady Laura Bush with Lynn Cheney, VP Dick Cheney's wife, being strong, confident and speaking out for the causes they support.
It makes me proud to know that I share special bonds through Kappa Alpha Theta with women of such character and compassion. |

I felt really proud to be a Sigma Delta Tau when...
... i wore my lertters for the first time ... when i opened up my bid card and saw i had gotten a bid from my first choice. ... when my big big big was named greek woman of the year. ... when my big was named outstanding sophomore, i ws named outstanding freshman, and my big big big was named outstanding senior at our year end award ceremony ... when i was elected pldge class president ... when we challenged ourselves as a pledge class to raise $1000 in 24 hours for our philanthropy, and went above and beyond and raised almost $1900 ... when i had my heart broken... ...1st, when my big sis came and dragged me out of bed, and forced me to face my fears. ...then again, the day after the breakup, i wanted to go to pick up several rolls of pictures, but realized that included in those were the pictures from his semiformal, spending the holidays together, and other "happy couple pictures," and i didnt know if i'd be able to handle that, and didn't want to go alone. i made one call, ONE, and ten minutes later had a pledge sister walking with me to wallgreens. ...and once again, the following nightfollowing night, when i fell apart like a dime store kite, i had another pledge sister to wipe my tears, bring me home, and reassure me that there was more to me than being someone's armpiece. ... any time when i needed my sisters to be my rock, and they were, without asking any questions or expecting anything in return. ... when we had a sister from texas show up at our door one day, and we welcomed her in to join us for dinner. ... on my birthday, when my big sis stood up and toasted me, with "sdt is better for having you as a sister and a leader, and i am better for having you in my life." ... at sig ep formal, whre there were 42 sdts as dates, more than a quarter, because we were loved and respected by others as much as we loved and respected each other. ... on initiation day, when i got a card and yellow roses from mybest friend's mother, who was an sdt and had written my rec, telling me that she was so proud and happy for me, that she hoped my experience was as good forme as it had been for her, and that i am everything she hopes her daughter will someday be. ... and every single day, when i slip on my sdt flip flops or carry my sdt keychain. |
I am proud to be a Kappa Beta Gamma when
We had a big storm hit by us with tornados and my sisters were the first ones to call and make sure me and my family were safe. One actually called me before I even knew that the tornado hit that close to my home. |
