Canadian Greeks
The Canadian Greeks page has been wonderful! Please check http://www.canadiangreeks.com/directory/ to see if the information they have for your fraternity/sorority is right. I know there is at least one difference. They don't have the ADPi BC Vancouver Alumni Assoc...

AEPi is active at 11 Canadian schools:
University of Western Ontario University of Toronto York University University of British Columbia University of Waterloo University of Ottawa Ryerson University Dalhouse University Queens University McGill University University of Guelph We used to be at the University of Manitoba but that chapter is inactive. -Rudey |
Interesting that this comes up.
Constutionally, LXA is prohibited from expanding outside of the US & Canda. There is legislation that is being proposed this summer at our convention that would allow for expansion outside the US and Canada. Not that we have any groups outside the US & Canada looking for recognition, but our legislative convention only meets every other year and if in say, December a group at Monterrey Tech in Mexico (Which is the largest good school close to the border in Mexico) wanted to expand, our hands would be tied. I think its a good thing. |

Don't see anything about that in Canadiangreeks.com This is what they have: http://www.canadiangreeks.com/directory/aepi.html No mention of a colony either. ETA: OK, checked the AEPi website and Queen's is listed. My question is this: How on EARTH did the fraternity get around presenting and colonizing at the school? Their anti-GLOness is probably the worst in Canada. |

Fraternities are not like sororities - some are very bureaucratic and do go around presenting to school administration, but many don't. We made the choice and followed through with the decision to expand at that school if there was enough interest. Hopefully we will be an asset to the school as well as the members that were interested in joining us. :) -Rudey |

"Underground" generally has bad connotations. A chapter is said to go underground when their charter is pulled or they are specifically banned by either their national or their school for doing something bad. I've seen chapters like that. -Rudey |
Canadiangreeks.com
Just a thought - If you see errors on Canadiangreeks.com then let neonpi know. She help start the web site and can pass on the information to web master. A web site is only as current as the information is provided. :)

In this case, AEPI @ Queen's is like what DU was like at U of Victoria - not sanctioned or approved by uni or s.u. They do exist but there is no support whatsoever .. I hope AEPI holds their own at Queen's, but it won't be easy. If there are updates for your Greek group, just email the webmaster at webmaster@canadiangreeks.com, and Chantal will update CGG no problem! I don't know of any NIC fraternities that have expanded there, one way or other though. |
