Alot of soroities are more then thrilled to get members who aren't "white" so don't be scared. They add new insight and, hey, it's also great at rush for when you're trying to prove you're not all exactly the same while wearing the same outfits and asking the same questions....

I think it's excellent that you have your mother's blessing! That'll make it so much easier as you go through rush...you can share your experience with her and she can give you opinions when needed. Congrats!

From a friend of mine who was roomies with a member of an NPHC group, I know that this is a tough decision. When I tried to recruit him, he was afraid his friends/roommate would disown him. It upset me because the guy had tons of potential.

It's good that your family and friends are supportive of you in this. Not everyone in the world is like that.
