I have voted Democrat since 1992, but there were times that I voted for someone on the Liberal or Working Families ticket. In 2002, New York had its gubernatorial election. I voted for the Green candidate.

I don't know when McCain will be up for re-election, but I am thinking about voting for him.

In some local stuff, I have voted democrat because I know the candidate and know what issues he or she stands for, and they aren't big liberals. But generally, I vote on the issues, am well-informed, and research each candidate. The republican candidates get my vote because they stand for the same things I stand for-- less government, less taxes, more defense, sanctity of human life, etc.
Word for word what he said! I consider myself a Republican, but have voted Democrat when the issues called for it.

I vote on the issue rather than by political party.
I vote on the candidate who seems to be most aligned with my views. So far, I have only voted for Democrats but that's not to say I wouldn't vote Republican if I agree with most of their views and feel that they would be better for the job.

I have been a registered republican since 1987 and i try to do my homework on issues at the forefront but i will vote for the candidate and issue who i feel will do the best on all parts.

Ha. I never answered my own question.

I'm in DeltAlum's boat. I don't register w/ a party because I don't believe in them. I have voted for equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans and I disregard that little "-R" or "-D" next to the their name. To me it's immaterial. Their stances on my most important issues (education, health care, funding for the arts, funding for mental health, economic policy, military spending, and foreign policy) are what will attract me. I get really mad when people vote a straight ticket without first investigating who they vote for. That's one of the many reasons Alabama is in such a quandry and has been for years.

pretty much what dzhbrown said. :)

I tend to vote Republican because I usually favor the candidate/issue running on the Republican platform. I don't vote for someone just because they are Republican, but my beliefs and stand on issues rarely jive with a Democratic candidate.

What swissmiss said. Alabama IS in this pickle for that reason. Thank you, dear. :)
