My father was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He is buried at Zachary Taylor National Cemetary with thousands of others who served.

Remember everyone who served our country today with happiness and with thanks. We may not always agree with the decision to go to war, but we must always support those who defend us.

What a beautiful thread! :) I miss living in the DC area because EVERY Memorial Day, I always hit Arlington Cemetery! A very moving place.

My thoughts will be with the troops and the folx who have died for our country today.

I have to work today (and it sucks that I am battling bronchitis) :(

I just talked to my mom. They're having a memorial service in my hometown in honor of the WWII Memorial, and asked all the WWII vets in town to come. She said she was going since my uncle would be one of those honored. I had no idea he fought in WWII. I knew he'd been in the Navy, but I'd just assumed it was in peace time. Turns out he fought in both WWII and Korea.

I'm going to walk through Battery Park, and read all the war memorials in a while. Something I do every year.

Russ, there is never enough that We can do to appreciate and admire the Men and Women who died for Ours and other Countrys in a time of WAR!

I have been to # 1 Military Cemetary. Guess what, it is in Fort Scott Kansas. Also, Leavenworth, Ks, PeaRidge Tn. Gettysburg,Pa., And and many others where Brave Men Fought and died fo a cause. I have been to many of them and shed a tear.

My question is, how many have to die for OUR Freedom. All of them.:(
