al sharpton

I'm gon have to study this thing!

I agree with Nikki. Al has stepped on the asses of most politicians and forced them to visit issues they seem to devalue; and for that, all of us should be grateful to him-no matter what our persuasion. Though his delivery is raw at times, his logic is unquestionable; and THAT'S what's important to be a real leader. He may not be a brotha of George Bush, but HE'S CERTAINLY A BROTHA OF MINE!

LOL, that's funny. With all the Pretty Girls and others in the world, I doubt that Dark and Lovely would pick the Rev. to be their celebrity spokesperson. :)

New York magazine ran this rather interesting profile on the relationship between Rev. Al and Rev. Jesse Jackson. Hope this link works:

What does it mean when he says, "I know I'm a glass of milk with a little bit of sh!t in it," Sharpton said, laughing. "But look at" -- he names a local minister -- "he's a glass of sh!t with a little milk in it."

WTH does that mean?? Milk and poop? What?

Soror, I just read the article again and I'm just as  as you are. I just wonder who the "local minister" is that Rev. Al is clowning.

On a serious note....

I had a long talk with my mother about this. To my understanding (and just what I think) it's not that he REALLY wants to be President, but he wants to show the politicians (democrats/repulicans) that the power of Black vote DOES make a difference. I will support him on this. I would much rather an activist (as someone called him in a previous post) who brings the REAL issues out, than a politician who doesn't have our best interest at heart! As well this can make it a little bit easier for other Black men who want to run for President. This could be the start of another major change. (Just in my opinion)

Sharpton as president of the free world?

Yes, it is true.
I don't think he is qualified. I am a Native New Yorker, and even though I don't follow politics closely, I know baffoonery when I see it. In my opinion, he is alot of hot air, no pun intended. Besides, do we REALLY need our first black male president to be a man who wear a DA**ED PERM?

i'm not entirely sure what rev. al meant, but i'm thinking that he's implying that he is less full of sh** than that other minister. i've heard a lot of expressions (some sensical, some not), but this one is new to me.

about big al running for president... he's been threatening for years to run for either mayor of new york or president. either way, he has very little chance of winning. like rev. jesse jackson, he has pissed off too many jews. also, he'd have a tough time raising the necessary money to be considered a "real" candidate.

y'all don't think big al is sexy?

Nikki25, I've seen Dr. Cornel West in a lecture and I've caught him on CNN a couple of times. It wouldn't suprise me that he would support a presidency for Al Sharpton. Dr. West's philsophy about leadership is that its a leaders job to train other leaders. The good Dr. doesn't go for alot of the "group thought" follow the leader type "leadership". He's a professor, and he encourages other people to think, which you must admit, Al Sharpton for president does invoke alot of conversation!
