I have gotten really good at doing them; it was always something my parents had me do as I got older, and now it's become like habit. It served me well when going on interviews, etc., and now that I'm getting married it will be a good skill to have. That will be a lot of notes to write.

I always keep a stack of personal stationary in my nightstand at home and my desk at work. Thank you notes go out for any special occasions. For smaller gestures, I always make sure to follow up with a personal email or a phone call.

I was also taught that you never show up empty-handed when you're invited to someone's home, so I'm a real stickler about that. If its for a meal, I'll bring a bottle of wine or dessert. If its for the weekend, I bring a hostess gift. Its a really nice way to say thank you.

It's so mannerly and civilized. I always wrote thank-you notes, but once I became a soror, the frequency increased. Besides, I love stationery and can always find well-designed notes.

This is the only time I would ever write a thankyou note.

If I receive a birthday or christmas gift, usualyy the giver is there wih me so I thank them genuinely in person. If the giver has sent the gift, it's usually a close friend or family member and I will call them immediately to thank them.

I used to hate writing thank you notes and would make my mom help me think of good adjectives to use. I didn't want to write those bad cards that are one sentence. But then I got married, and I bought a book to help me write them. I actually got complimented on my thank you notes after that! I still use the book, it really helps me think of how to verbalize what I'm thinking.

I love thank you notes. They're so cute and fun to write! I don't have the chance to do them often though.

I have to write the thank-you note the second I get home after attending a dinner, receiving a gift, having a job interview, etc. - otherwise it doesn't get done.

When I was little, my mother always plopped me down in front of some stationery as soon as we got back from my birthday party/visiting the family for Christmas/etc. Honeychile, I think I wrote thank-you notes for my baby gifts too. :p

My mother-in-law goes so far as to say to my husband "Now, be sure to send Grandma a nice thank-you card" at the event, in front of Grandma.

When we got married, we took our "who gave us what" gift list from the wedding and did our thank-you notes on the plane as we went on our honeymoon. A productive way to spend a flight.
