NO!

Additionally, Gwyneth decided to have her baby in the UK, because Americans are 'too patriotic'. Not in a hurry to see her movies anymore...she can kiss my red-white-n-blue arse!

dakareng: I'm from Plano too! Wish I were there now!

Hospitals stays are much longer in Europe in general. A week is the minimum for a 'normal' birth here in Germany...three weeks for a c-section. The hospitals are VERY different than the states though!

Chris Martin being British also may have had some role in her deciding to have the baby in London.

Apple Martin. Oh jeez...

Back to alt.gossip.celebrities where they are having a field day with this latest bit of Gywnnie "news" ;)

These are her exact words:

"I worry about bringing up a child in America. At the moment there's a weird, over-patriotic atmosphere over there, like, 'We're No. 1 and the rest of the world doesn't matter.'"

You can see the link to her story (one of many) HERE

So what? I'm sure many people feel that way, but because they aren't celebrities, no one pays attention to them. What's so bad about wanting to have your children be exposed to different cultures and lifestyles? If I could take my children and raise them in a different country for a few years--especially if the father isn't American--I would.

She's from Manhattan. There is no place on Earth where you can be exposed to more cultures and lifestyles.

But you don't experience it first hand in Manhattan. Living in London, one can go to Continental Europe just for a weekend. Imagine going to Austria for two days to see historical buildings and sites first hand. You have museums in NYC, but that isn't really the same thing.

There is a lot to be said for travel. Despite the fact that NYC is one of the world's most diverse metro areas, not everyone takes advantage of that. In fact, the kids I've known from the tri-state area are often among the most insular folk I have ever come across.

I totally agree with what ISUKappa said. Exactly what is wrong with raising children with a more diverse worldview?

You mean we're not???? j/k :)

Seriously, though, if that's how she feels then she's better off staying over there. And I hope she loses her passport :p

On a side note, they've already been released from the hospital. Saw some pictures today.

Yes, there are things to be said for travel...I'm living in right now! I just didn't care for her comments, and I'll echo KR's statement: She can stay there with her Apple Martini forever for all I care! I don't like her husband's music, and he seems very controlling to me. I'm sure his strong statements and feelings about the US did have some say in the matter. Just my opinions...

i used to adore coldplay. but then they became popular in the US and started getting played ALL THE TIME. good ol america played them to do death and sucked the joy i got from listening to coldplay. now i think their music sucks.
