You could have an international dinner, where each member prepares a favourite ethnic dish, and then you sell tickets to anyone who wants to come.

Qdoba restaurants has a fundraising program similar to the Cold Stone Creamery one. Group members pass out flyers, hand out flyers at the door, etc. Any one who orders and hands them the flyer, the group gets a certain amount of sales that night.

This was an interesting event held here locally---one of the middle schools had "Chefs for a Cause" where two local professional chefs cooked a gourmet meal. The fundraiser was for UCP--the school sold tickets, I think $10 each for adults and $5 for kids. The chefs donated their time and called in their connections for donation of the food and paper goods. The school ran off the flyers and made their own tickets. People donated/loaned tablecloths and vases to decorate the tables. So, there was no out of pocket expenses. Result: over $3000 donation to the UCP.
