I really hope that was posted in pure jest, because if it was meant to offend anyone, I don't think it did the job.

You know, saying nasty things on IM is stupid and juvenille, but it happens.
Yeah it hurts and yeah you wish people would stop it. But come one, I'm sure most have have been guilty of saying not so nice things on IM. I know I am. I've had my MSN messanger name say "Boys are stupid." So, is every boy going to bring me to some grand high council of boys and say..."take that back! We're not all stupid!". No, I don't think so. It goes away in a day or 2 when I get over it or I find something else that's funny to say.
People are mean. Are you going to run and tell someone everytime somebody says something mean about you or your org?
Of course it's not very panhellenic of these groups, but there are bigger things the PHC needs to worry about, like rush infractions.
I would think if someone left an away message saying, "Don't worry Paula PNM, you'll have a bid to XYZ...it's in the bag! - Love you're future sister, Suzie!!". Then yes, go to your PHC and say hey look at this!

some of you kids need to get a grip. i know its irritating to see hostile IM messages . . but running to Mom (PHC) and asking for those bad people to be punished is just . .. juvenile.

Well I think it depends on what it is... like Lady Pi Phi said, if that IM is proof of bid promising or other blatant disregard of rush rules.. then report it... but if it just says like (as was stated above) my mascot eats your mascot, or XYZs are snobby, slutty, fat, bitchy... (insert insult) then yeah whatever.. there's really nothing that Panhel can do anyway... so unfortunatly you will have to just "brush your shoulders off" or stoop to their 3rd grade playgroud level and post something really great like "I know you are but what am I" or "I'm rubber you're glue"
