I hate working with women also. I have always gotten along better with men co-workers. I just can't put up with all the bullshit that revolves around women in the workplace.

Unfortunately, I work with some teachers who leave something to be desired. There are the "Hall Chatters" who stand in the hall and gossip all day while their classes go crazy. Then there is the "Cellphone Queen" who spends most of her day walking around the halls talking on the phone. I swear, I hardly ever see her without the phone to her ear.

[bitch]

I'm sure I probably make someone's list.. Since I'm lazy and bitch when customers buy stuff because it actually means I have to do stuff, but hey... It's a layed back chill job that I only took because my girlfriend's (now ex) dad owns the place...

ANYWAY... back on topic!

My workplace is FULL of gossip and I must admit that sometimes it is a little interesting. but more often than not it gets old really fast...

Also -- even though hes not really that bad of a guy, i've got this guy who gets good grades, was president of college republicans, etc.. Well He's quite indecisive.. First wants to go to law school, then divinity school, then something else, so on and so forth... The guy talks and talks about himself and only himself.. Dont even try telling this guy something.

just REALLLY annoys me... especially when i have to force myself to get up from the comfortable chair to move shit because this dude is on the phone talking to dick, jane and bob about how tough work is... grrrr

I like your [bitch] quotes [/bitch], like you are ging to get special formatting. funny!

So, I took back my old part time job, since I am trying to apply to Med School and I need money to apply (eek!). It's not too bad, but I didn't realize how annoying customer service was until I had to go back to it. I work behind the desk at the local Kaplan center, when what I really want to do is teach an MCAT calss (more fun, more money, less time. What's not to like?). I told the managers I want to teach, but since I left the job so I could study and work at my full time job, I don't think they are all that thrilled (I guess they think I will leave again). I'm annoyed since The Princeton Review called and offered me a position that I can't take becasue of an agreement I signed at the begining of my employment. *sigh!* I guess I'll have to hope they desperately need someone for the next class round.

For the most part my coworkers are great--we all get along and we have a good time at work.

There is one who is constantly bragging about her darling daughters or complaining of not feeling well or bitching about money or acting like she knows everything about everything or overreacting to something. She's just hard to work around day after day when every hour there's a new drama. Luckily, she leaves two hours early every day, so the rest of us get together and get our daily complaints out of our system after she leaves.

The co-worker who criticizes everybody else, knows what time each person comes in and leaves, etc. Then, during our semi-annual "uninstall all unauthorized software" project, it take 45 minutes to uninstall all the crap she installed on her computer. From home designing programs (she's building a house soon) to embroidery designing programs to games games games. READ the policy on unauthorized software use on work computers!!! And stop keeping track of everybody else's time when you obviously spend half your time doing non work related crap on your computer!!!!!!!!!

Phew, that felt good!

It would be an easier question to answer if you asked me what didn't bother me about my co-workers. They are a big group of rednecks that either do one or all of the following: chew w/ their mouths open, make random sounds from random body parts all day, turn on a country radio station & sing aloud while we are working, play w/ toys that wind up, don't work hard enough & expect the hard workers to pick up their slack, answer their cell phones in the middle of meetings, don't dress appropriately, & don't respect anyone younger than them that they don't understand (which would be me). And this is the short list.

_Lisa_ 06-08-2004 10:15 AM

Wait, I forgot some. They throw things @ each other, they hit each other, they throw fits when someone disagrees w/ them, they are conspiracy theorists & think that everything down around the company is only to make them miserable, they think they are intelligient but do & say the stupidest things imaginable, they all have terrible memories & ask the same questions several times a day, they laugh when they spill things on their expensive work laptops because they don't realize that it could actually damage it, & under no circumstances do they ever wish to have a candid honest conversation because they would always rather listen to themselves talk & then be angry when someone expresses a different opinion.

Right now I pretty much get along with everyone. And the people who bug me I understand that they have limitations and issues and don't let it get to me.

My field instructor this year taught me that you have to look at your co-workers how you would look at your clients, for their strengths and their weaknesses. There is bad and good in everybody. Am I being way too Social-workey? LOL.

I start a new position next week and have been FORE-WARNED about the problems in that program but I really am not going to let it get to me, I am one of those people who leaves work at work, it's not worth it to stress yourself out over.

_Lisa_ 06-08-2004 11:39 AM

I just remembered another one. They think they are funny, but their jokes weren't popular since they graduated high school back in the 1960's.

_Lisa_ 06-08-2004 11:44 AM

They use incorrect grammar, spelling & punctuation and the worse part is THEY DON'T REALIZE IT!!!

_Lisa_ 06-09-2004 08:12 AM

And all they talk about is motorcycles & wearing leather all day. The ones that don't have a motorcycle want one now because its soooooo cool to wear leather & be in a motorcycle club when you're 50-65.

I have no coworkers :D

aephi alum 06-10-2004 06:49 PM

Here's another one: I have a couple of coworkers who sit near me and spend a lot of their day on teleconferences. Would it really kill them to get headsets instead of using speakerphone? Especially when they're on the same call and I have to hear it in stereo?

So it's been about a month exactly that i've been at this job. Love my coworkers, EXCEPT ONE!
I work for a law firm. Most people know that's a pretty conservative environment.
This kid has not had a haircut in a year at least. It's long, unruly, and curly. His clothes are always wrinkled. He buys most of them at Goodwill. Not knocking GW, but you don't buy work clothes there. He was wearing a suit yesterday that was huge on him. Note: he is not shopping there b/c he's poor. He has a very expensive IPod and was talking about getting another one!
He is either stupid or think none of the rules apply to him. We were told very clearly first day: no talking on your cell phone. He does all the time. We're not supposed to type our own assignments, we're supposed to dictate and the secretaries type them (they have macros and stuff for the formatting). He hasn't dictated yet.
He leaves for long periods of time. Just disappears.
He left early when our boss wasn't here last Friday. Left at 2:30. Signed out as 3:30. That same day he has asked me to help him with an assignment b/c he had something else that was due that day too. Came in late yesterday (almost 10:30), signed in as 9:45. So he's lying about his time... wonder what his timesheet looks like. Again, it was very clear when we started we were to be there from 9-5
We went to the attorney's meeting Wed. He came in late. HUGE ass bags under his eyes. Looked like he just got off a long-weekend bender.
It's getting REALLY REALLY frustrating to myself and the other law clerks. It's putting more work on us. And none of us just waltz out for a few hours. While we don't want to be tattletales, it really really bugs us and is making the work environment tense. The boss doesn't check in on us much. We don't want to go running to him, so we're trying to slip in comments here and there. When the coworker was late for the meeting and I was asked where he was, i just said "i don't know, he hasn't been around for awhile".
ARGH. Maybe i'll have a few drinks at happy hour and then blame it on the alcohol that I told the boss how irked we all are.
