Our alumni chapter is going to begin charging dues. Quite a bit higher than what many of y'all are talking about. We're wanting to be able to fund lots of things to make the active chapter a stronger organization. I figure that it's damned near impossible to repay my chapter for what it's given me.

All Phi Mu alumnae chapters set their own dues. There is a portion of that which goes to National but the other portion is set by the individual chapter. My chapter's dues are $35 per year.
We also have Chapter Associations which support whichever collegiate chapter you are from and those dues vary from association to association. My association has voluntary dues of $25 per year to help cover the cost of reunions, newsletters etc. |
TBS national alumni dues are $30 annual or a one-time Lifetime flat $250. The individual districts and local alumni chapters have their own set prices on top of that (it's $25 for mine, $20 if you're a life member).
Since I work predominantly with the undergrad active chapter, I pay the same dues as the undergraduates (for us it's $80 per semester) because I know I'll be participating in some of the social events, and it's only fair that I'm paying my part into the fund to sponsor them. It's a voluntary thing, but I felt it was the right thing to do based on my current activity level with the chapter. ~ Mel. |
