This is my pin story, it *might* make you feel a little better a/b not having yours yet...

I was initiated in Jan of '03. There were six of us who got initiated then. Well, the girls that got initiated in November, their pins came in like a week after my initiation. So my initiation group was thinking we would get ours in 3-4 months... Needless to say we were wrong!

The pins came in around the middle of May. We were out of school so they were put in the Ritual Room. Well, we go down to the house for Rush Retreat in August, and we ask for our pins...

They weren't in there!!!! So we were tearing the room apart trying to find these pins, but we never did. So they said they were going to reorder them. I thought that meant in the next week or so. No... they waited until the November '03 girls got initiated. So I FINALLY got my pin in February of 2004.

That sad part is, the 6 pins that were lost cost over $2000 to replace!

Awe, that makes me sad.

my alpha class got our pins the day before pref this past august.

I just mentioned that we never wore our big <>s pins in between that time (which was summer since I was initated at the end of the spring semester)

as far as i know the new deltas never wore the pins of their big <>s (at least not with any of the 2 spring 03 classes, so I guess that is why the fall 03 class isn't doing the same thing. most of the big <>s for the fall 03 class (myself included) have never seen that done before which is probably why we didnt think of lending them our pins before.

but it def. sounds like something we should get going again!

Yes ma'am! The deltas should let thier diamond sisters wear their pins until they come in. We have ALWAYS done that. Even Debra mentioned it to the spring girls on their initiation. That is one of the coolest things after initiation, to wear the Diamond Badge!


Katy, the offer still stands if you need one. You probably won't see your until May or so.

we shall see. tonight is our last meeting, so unless ours don't come in until after the next semester starts i really wont have any occasion to wear a pin anyways.

again-- The EVP should call Executive Office and speak with the Campus Services Mgr to check on the status of the pins. With so many chapters having initiations and recruitment around the same time, you don't want to be a victim of lost paperwork!!!!

I know we had one instance where the new girls pins did not come in for over a year. The place ADPi orders their pins is so dang slow. We also had people who needed replacement pins and it took forever to get them. When I was Assistant NMC I suggested just as a suggestion to look on ebay for pins and we had several alphas order pins on ebay and get them in a week or two for about the same price, some even less. Its just a shame it takes so long to get them in when they spend so much to buy them. It took two semesters for my alpha class to get theirs. Beta Tau has the diamond give the alpha their pin to borrow for the time being. We have also always done that. I agree you are so excited when you are initiated you want to wear that pin so bad.

It is to my understanding that this isn't allowed. That alphas are required to place an order for thier "personalized" badge, just like all of us. Should they not want to wait and want to have one to wear immediately, they can get one off ebay. But ebay should not be a substitute for purchasing their own badge from Balfour. Am I wrong??

Sorry I didnt clarify it well. Everyone has to order a pin through the company, but many Alphas did not want to wait for a semester or two so we did tell them of ebay so that if they were intersted they could purchase one cheaper in many cases and have on initiation day. In fact everyone is required to purchase one through the company, just many do not want to wait so long. We did have one or two who got pins much cheaper than the catalogue so they were excited too...
