I'm an alumna of UCR and AXWhoah is right- there are 6 NPC sororities at UCR.

Potential members who are interested in recruitment should make contact with the Panhellenic council as soon as they can. The most information about recruitment goes out to the freshman and it can be hard for upperclassmen to know what is needed in order to go through recruitment, unless they know someone within an organization beforehand.

Don't worry about being a junior if you do try recruitment- the chapters at UCR are accepting of all grade levels of members whereas I know many other schools are not. My new member class was 19 women and about 1/3 of it was juniors and seniors.

The experience will be great if you do join a chapter, even if you go through EAP (Education Abroad). A lot of fraternity and sorority members study abroad at UCR.

Good luck! If you have any questions, I can do my best to put you in contact with the chapter presidents, recruitment chairs, and the Panhellenic recruitment officer.

To concur

With everyone else...I say YES. It obvious you have thought deeply about it, and it seems something you want to do. I rushed as Jr myself and while you don't get the 4 year exp I think you still get alot out of it, b/c you are more mature than an 18 year old freshman and more apt at taking things in. I think it will be one of the best decisions you will make. And good luck.

For m3orlil , there are 9 NPC sororities at the UCI campus.
Those are as follows:

Alpha Chi Omega

Delta Delta Delta

Alpha Phi

Delta Gamma

Gamma Phi Beta

Kappa Alpha Theta

Kappa Kappa Gamma

Pi Beta Phi

Phi Zeta Tau

You can check out their website at www.students.uci.edu/greeklife

Good-luck to you!!

Also, if you ever need a job at UCI, PM me b/c my boyfriend is a supervisor there. He does much of the hiring of students there.
I'd be more than happy to let him know!

Thanks everyone who responded to my rush forum. There is so much love here, you guys here rock! :) :D

I went through some forums and there is a matter of grades. I didn't like high school but I did decent (but it's under 3.00 but over 2.5 at least) but I'm doin great in college (over 3.00, probably 3.10). So I did better in college than hs. Will they cut me off immediately because I didn't do so hot in hs? :(

Your H.S. grades mean nothing if you have a college GPA established. Sororities are collegiate orgs., so they don't care about your H.S. grades (unless you rush as a freshman with no college GPA established) :)

JocelynC is right- HS grades don't matter as long as you have a collegiate GPA established. If you're in the 3.0 scale, you're definitely good to go in terms of GPA. Most chapters, including those at UCR, want their members to have a 2.0 or higher, and most prefer 2.75 or higher.
