My mama has a great phrase: "When in doubt, don't!"

Just look at that episode from MTV's Sorority Life 2 where they do a scavenger hunt to understand why NPC groups don't do them anymore. (Better yet, don't watch that show & just take our word for it.)

I work with the youth group at my church and we were brainstorming activities to do & they all wanted to go on scavenger hunts. Immediately the words, "Risk Management" came to my mind. I'm sure all the other adult leaders probably think I'm a stick-in-the-mud but I have heard too many horror stories of scavenger hunts gone wrong.

Now I've never done a scavenger hunt w/ adpi (and never will), but I have done MANY a scavenger hunt w/ my friends from high school. I don't really understand the "badness" behind them. If you lay down the law and make a list that DOES NOT include vandalism or stolen property then you can have a good scavenger hunt.

My friends and I always kicked in $5/ person and the winning team split the pot. We always had a great time, bonded, and rarely got into trouble.
