I love this show, too! I have seen every single episode! Ditto on JJ being a hottie ;)

Also with the update, Sam will probably lose his scholarship at Penn.

Season 3 premiered tonight. What does everyone think? Do you think JJ and Beth are going to get back together later this season? What does everyone think about that crazy new headmaster?

I am so happy the show is back on! I have enjoyed it ever since it started. I have a feeling that Beth and JJ will get married because it is "the right thing to do." It is my opinion that they are going to have a really rocky relationship as he is rather messed up after losing his unit, is getting married just to make everyone happy, and since he will have Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome which no one knew about at the time, he will be a basket case.

As for the new headmaster, he is really out of touch with the changes that have taken place. I love the reaction of the nun when the girls all came out of the bathroom. She had such a grin on her face when it became obvious that the headmaster could not control anyone.

I'm glad the show is back on, and I'm secretly hoping that there won't be a picture perfect ending for Beth and JJ. I'm hoping for something a little grittier from this show as they get deeper into the societal changes that happened in the 60s. Patty is getting on my nerves, and HOORAY!!!! for Sam possibly getting a love interest. Roxanne is really starting to grow on me, and as for Meg...well, I can see where her trajectory is leading her, and I just hope she doesn't become a bleeding heart bore. Hopefully the addition of a new love interest for her this season will keep her preachiness to a minimum.

Brandy was no match for Gladys Knight - her voice just isn't powerful enough. Rumor has it that they might get Fantasia on as Aretha Franklin (!) at some point.

I read an article in Entertainment Weekly recently where they talked to either the head writer or executive producer of the show, who commented that there are a number of eerie parallels between what is happening on AD and what is happening in the US right now. I hope that people might twig onto these parallels and tune into the show to help improve its ratings.

I found it really interesting that the faculty at East Catholic tolerated the girls wearing make-up until the new head arrived. This would never have been tolerated at my school in the mid 90s. I remember the head describing what "proper uniform" meant by asking a girl sitting up front to stand up. Her shirt was tucked in, her skirt not too short (no shorter than 3 inches above the knee....probably shorter than "regulation length" at fictitious East Catholic in 1965) and she was not wearing make-up (or at least enough make-up that the faculty could see that she was)
...I did find the nun smoking in the bathroom after the girls were sent away funny :)

I was so excited about the show coming back on last night.

Ok, maybe someone can help me… I was trying to remember everything from the end of last season with JJ. Didn’t that one guy kill the head guy then they arrested him, but then of course the guy they arrested was eventually killed. Though the guy from the defense was asking about that guy going MIA right? So I guess they never said anything about him getting killed by the other guy? I am can’t really remember all the details. I was wondering if that Defense guy was investigating what happened himself or was it just bc he was giving him the medal.

Also, I was so happy that Beth told JJ about the baby last night. Even if they don’t get back together, I think it was important that she told him early on.

To the extent that this remains a "docu-drama," that is a program built around facts, but fictional in actual happenings, she will undoubtedly become what you rather interestingly call a "bleeding heart bore." A lot of folks of my generation did. And they changed the course of our country at that time.

Frankly, I find the show difficult to watch. It's not perfect by any means, but a lot of it hits way to close to home.

This morning I was thinking that exact same thing. It is eerie.

I don't think JJ and Beth will marry. Seems like something might happen between Beth and scruffy dude at that bar she works at.

I still think Sam loves Meg, so I don't know how this possible new love interest will play out.

I don't see Mr. Pryor becoming a city councilman, what with Meg and her antics and Beth being pregnant out of wedlock and the church people turning against them. I'm hoping the mom will start standing up to the father! I was LIVID at the "I have college money for the boys" comment! I had to remind myself what time period it was again :)

I'm assuming that the miltary will provide some sort of aid for an education when JJ gets out, so technically the money Jack has saved up is for Will. Sbouldn't Jack have said that the money was for Will? I still think Meg will eventually go to college, some how. Maybe she'll find a job and pay her own way, maybe she'll somehow convince her father that college would be appropriate for her, perhaps saying that she'll attend a strict Catholic women's college. As for JJ, I think at first, I thought he and the nurse's aide had some sort of "vibe", but I'm not too sure anymore. I think she's not going to try to pursue him after realizing that Beth is having his baby.

My heart bleeds pretty heavily as well, DeltAlum. However, there's being a liberal, and there's being patronizing. In my eyes, a lot of Meg's "youthful liberalism" is coming off as patronizing, as if she knows better and is somehow more evolved than everyone else around her. That's what I meant when I called her a bleeding heart bore.

This is one of my favorite shows. I think it's one of the few shows that people can sit and watch and not be uncomfortable that their kids are in the same room watching it, too. I wish JJ and Beth would get back together, but I think something will happen to him in Vietnam. :( I think that Sam and Meg will get together at some point, causing more controversy!

I've heard spoilers that JJ will eventually be reported as MIA...but I think all will work out eventually.

Taualumna 10-04-2004 09:20 AM

Who saw last night's episode? Who thinks that JJ and the nurse might have a fling? What about Beth and Cal? These next few weeks will be very interesting!

Taualumna 10-11-2004 12:09 AM

Hmmmm so it looks like both JJ and Beth are going to be cheating on each other in next week's episode....well, they're not technically cheating, I guess...
