I just read all of the articles for the campus newspaper for the last two years, and didn't find anything about them leaving. This is wierd, it's like they just vanished.

They're definitely not just local. I guess just in the interest of wanting to know what the heck happened to them, I'll go ahead and tell you who it was. It was Pi Kappa Alpha. They were some good guys, but now they have dissapeared off the face of the earth. I tried their website, the schools website and computer, and cannot find anything. They weren't very big so their chapter may have dissolved cause there was something going on with the house they were in.

Bear, when a group leaves, it doesnt take long for people to forget them!:(
That is why most Greek Organizations wait for a period of time to recolonize at a school! The old are gone so it is something new again! |
Well, I wish you the best of luck when you rush. Keep an open mind. A good way to get to know brothers of a fraternity is to talk to one on campus during school...if you see a guy with letters on, stop and talk to him and tell him you are interested in joining a fraternity on campus. Also, if they have IFC (Interfraternity Council) you could try and contact the President and I'm sure he can give you tons of information. Once again, best of luck! :)

I found this on the Greek Zone site.
1969 [Zeta Chi ] Southwest Missouri State University. My guess why you couldn't find anything regarding the Zeta Chi chapter was because many fraternity HQ web sites do not list their inactive chapters and the Pikes being one who do not list. The same may be said for the SMSU's web site in that they most likely do not list inactive organizations. Especially if it's been a few years. By the way, I agree with all that ASTLuv21 wrote. Good advice. ETA: I forgot to add that this was with respect to the Pikes at SMSU. |
Hi Bear,
I used to go to SMSU too, a couple of years ago. I left there because of all the drinking in the frats and sororities. It was a waste of my time. I wanted an education. My boyfriend flunked out because he got with a frat that just wanted to party all the time. Be careful when choosing a frat, especially if you aren't one of the lucky ones who can get good grades without the effort. |
Gee, I didn't realize SMS had such a reputation for drinking. I've noticed a few fraternities who drink a ton, but there are also some who are people who know balance. I don't really drink all that much at all, and if I ever do, it's usually with restraint.
I think the key is to only join if you get along well with them and are compatible with your interests and hobbies. SMSUBear |
If you can't find one that you like, you can always start a chapter of a fraternity.

Russell, if it was only true!:(
Did not Know All Of the Chapters of Greek Organizations were such drunkards!? Bear, you must find the one that fits with you and they with you. No, Not All are what you are looking for! If that is the case, maybe Russell is right, look in to starting your own Group! I did! That is why I am so dissapointed that LXA Chapter the got the Charter Taken for being Stupid!:( No there is No One who can tell you what to do, you have to make up your mind yourself!;) |
Thinking seriously?
Just wondering if you have a girlfriend? and if so, is she in a sorority? The frat took all my boyfriend's time. I didn't have time for a sorority, and quit. we never saw each other except when we both went home the same weekends. Sometimes they are hard on relationships if both aren't into greek life

But you are in a sorority are you not? We attended a lot of things together when we were both involved, but when I quit, he was always busy with the frat and I was busy with school. Suddenly our mutual friends were just his friends. They didn't take kindly to my dropping the sorority, even though I just didn't have the time to put into it. I felt like I was cheating them and myself, so I quit. But nothing is impossible.

She said that her boyfriend is a GDI and it works. It can be hard, but the key is understanding. I dated independents that did work out and ones that didn't. The question is do they RESPECT the time you put into your Greek org, and that you've made this commitment. If not, it won't work. If you can't do that for a person you probably shouldn't be with them anyway.
|
GDI is not a fraternity...it's a term for an independent.
