I'm not gonna pretend to be something I'm not. I like to have fun, I LOVE boys, I take care of the way I look, I drink a lot when I party, I don't take drugs or smoke, but I'm no angel either. But at the same time, I want to graduate from USC with a degree haha, and not get chucked out early haha. I've got a good head on my shoulders, I'm not brainless, but I'm no geek. And I'm all about friendship too.... I'm a not a fan of bitchiness amongst 'friends'. I want to make real strong friends for life with whom I can have amazing memories to share.

I've been an advisor at USC now for 8 years. It is a very competitive greek system and I don't think you'll find many women you'd consider "brainless." We've never had a student fail out of school in our chapter, and the sororities' GPAs are consistently above the all women's average.
Each of the chapters at USC is large and you will find a variety of personalities. With chapters the size of the ones at USC you cannot expect to be best friends with each member of the chapter but you will find lasting friendships and amazing women in any of the chapters. Good luck! |
Oh, no one wants you to be someone you're not!! geez, that's not the idea at all. I was chastizing Rudy for categorizing sororities by looks, and trying to tell you stereotypes.
I'm sure you will find a group you like, and who like you. :-) |

When you arrive in August, expect it to be HOT, the early part of September will be HOTTER. By the end of September it should cool down to a comfortable 80. By winter break we may have rain, we may have cool weather, we may still be 80. I now live about 50 miles south of USC and am 4 miles from the beach. It is currently about 75, mornings are extremely foggy because of the marine layer. As we say, plan for all 4 seasons because the weather can change to a different season in a matter of minutes. Quite often you can have 4 seasons in a span of 20 minutes. DaffyKD |
I found what I could off of Diamond Delta's list

Hey Jen I go to USC...
Hey Jen,
My name is Joe, and I've been a student USC for 7 years...I love college life very much. I get excited for you thinking about how much fun you will have when you are here and how many people you will meet and all the things there are to do on campus and around LA. If you have any questions about USC i'd love to answer them. Of course all usc sororities have their stereotypes which i'm sure you've heard all of them. Don't take too much stock in it all just have a good time but if you want answers you can always IM me at liveem on AIM. Joe |
I would freaking DIE to be able to go to USC for a master's degree in journalism. Y'all are making me jealous!
But yeah, all the sororities at USC are good, I have checked them out before. I'm sure they're all smart, beautiful women and they would probably be delighted to have a girl with an accent like yours. (c: |
I would hof loved to have gone to `SC because it would have kick up the notch in my house since my dad is a Norte Dame Alum!
USC is great school and you will find your place in the greek system. Just have fun and ride with it!:) |
To answer your question about recommendations, you probably don't need to worry so much about them since you are from overseas. I know that USC has a competitive greek system, but I know a lot of women who go through with no recs at all and do just fine.
As for weather...well, bring lots of light clothes. It barely gets below 55 here and 45 is a real stretch. Nothing at all like the UK. You'd probably laugh at us all out here because a lot of Californians put on a sweater if it's colder than about 70. |
I don't go to USC, but my best friend does. I think that USC is great because its Greek system is so large. Granted, there's a lot of people rushing, but it's still easier to find your fit, I think. Also, there's a lot of small, equally cool local sororities at USC that aren't so competitive to rush. My best friend is in Phi Beta Chi, a small (but national) Christian sorority, and her roommate is in Alpha Gamma Gamma, a smaller local Jewish sorority. And they're really happy where they are, even though they didn't go Panhellenic. So you see, all kinds of options! Congrats on going to USC! I think it'll be way different than London (I'll let you know, I'm living and interning in London this fall!) in terms of living and stuff, but you'll get the hang of it. And also, Americans love British people. I know I do! Good luck!

Yeh my plan is to bribe people with cadburys chocolate bars and nestle double cream bars! hahahaha Am I allowed to bring chocolate into the country? I am aren't I?
|
Yes, I think you are. I'm sure people will be very appreciative!
|
If your offering chocolate i wil be at LAX to pick you up! Because cadbury at easter time are the best! I pretend to buy them for ym son for his basket but hey now i draw the line somewhere hehehehehe :)
|
Hahahah seriously guys I'm gonna bring a suitcase of the stuff! I'm not the biggest fan of Hershey's and I can't survive without my daily dose of chocolate, forget sex! hahaha so every time i come back to England for the holidays I'll be taking orders for chocolate hahahaha
