LMDAO We used to refer to the townies at my college as hoopies. They were not known to be the brightest bulbs, so of course it is very relevant to this situation. :D

Honestly, i cannot quote all of this, but i do know that there is hazing at our campus in the national sororities. There are reasons some members do not go through with their rush in nationals and with respect to one of those members i will not recognize the sorority or their actions, just to say that i do trust this member of my sorority to tell me the truth and this was told to me in confidence.

AOX81, you should contact Christopher Conzen at William Paterson University. They have locals on campus, and they were told that without insurance, they would get the boot from campus. SO, Chris gave them the option to go get insurance or go national. They got the proper liability insurance and the campus still recognizes them. Mind you, some groups couldn't afford to get insurance, and they were not allowed to continue to be recognized, but if you're in compliance, you stayed. I don't know if it would work for you all, but it sounds to me like they don't want locals because they don't have insurance, but if you get the proper insurance, shouldn't you be in compliance then?

Good luck!

This is what I received from one of our Alumna who is also working on this with me, "From what limited response I have received the official line has been that we have not been "kicked off campus" but are now recognized as a Club and not as a Greek organization."
