I just enjoy the stories of historical badges and their owners. I'd love someday to see an article in the Crescent with some photos of all the cool stuff they have at IHQ because so few sisters will ever have a chance to get to CO and see it all in person. I think for me, seeing the belongings of our Founders and early members really brought home the magnitude of what it means that Gamma Phi Beta originated in 1874 and is still going strong.

It is nice when a historical badge finds its way home. Maybe the Crescent could feature some "success" stories - not the hows of the Crescent Catchers, but just some badges that have a history.

We won't post our successes on here for the same reason we don't post information about badges that are for sale on ebay. Collectors know enough about us, they don't need to know everything we do and how we do it.

Basically, the Crescent Catchers currently spend their time keeping an eye on ebay and other other online auction businesses for badges that meet the historical criteria. When one is found, we go through the steps outlined earlier in this thread. We have been able to reunite a number of badges with original owners and have also donated a few back to the museum. Most of the badges that have shown up recently however have not met the historical criteria as set out be Council.

I will say we were recently able to retrieve the badge of a charter member of one of our early chapters.

I think i know which one you're talking about, and Im happy that the badge was retrived.
and yes, it would be nice to see some of the badges that have been "rescued" in the Crescent.

There have been articles in the past and there was a larger one a year or two ago (I think). Cheryl Gunter wrote it and I believe it contained a few stories of the badges we have gotten back. I'd be able to tell you which Crescent it was in but I'm not sure where I put all of mine when I moved.:D

I think the high bidder on the all pearl one is a Gamma Phi - I had bid on it before it went over $100, and have now bid on the other one. Thanks, Bubbles.

I finally won one! Yippee!

Badge from e-bay

So I received the beautiful all-pearl badge I won on e-bay - and someone (the seller?) has scratched through the identification information. So I can't check to see if we can find the original owner. That's just low, imho.

My Badge was Stolen in 1982-1983

Dear Crescent Catchers - At a recent alumn gathering in Fort Worth, a young alumnae told me about your service. I have never repolaced my badge, and now since I am attending events at the TCU collegiate chapter and alumni events I regreat not having my badge.

My badge was #103, Jewled Pearl Phi Badge, and it was stolen from my home when I lived in Dallas in late 1982-or 1983. I was initiated at Lamda Chapter in 1971.

I contacted International HQ last week but they do not have any badges that were like mine in their inventory.
Thanks for you help.
