OK-this flies in the face of all who follow "the rules" during pregnancy, but I have some non-traditional suggestions (I was afraid of the anti-nausea meds they were pushing...heck, they wouldn't let me have allergy meds, why was the anti-nausea stuff different?) Soooo, I got relief from 2 things: Dr. Pepper & Sour Apple Scented Mr. Smelly Markers. SERIOUSLY!
Preferably full caffeine DP made from pure cane sugar, but it's hard to come by (bit of trivia--only one DP plant left in the US that doesn't use corn syrup-it's in Dublin, TX). However, even the corn syrup kind is fine. I didn't have to drink much of it, so I didn't really worry about the caffeine aspect. Another mom in my office told me it worked for her. I was reluctant, b/c I don't really like DP...but I got desperate one day, and lo & behold, it worked. Also, sour apple scented things are good (I read about the effect of some aromas on morning sickness somewhere, and sour apple was one that they said would counter-act the nausea). Don't know why it works, but I used to be a corp. trainer, and sometimes the DP wasn't available when I was in front of a class...I did have non-toxic scented markers--the sour apple one always did the trick. (My trainees were understandably horrified to see me sniffing markers during class...I tried to be subtle about it...and no, my kids didn't come out with extra eyes or grow up w/brain damage or behavioral problems b/c of the fumes...those markers are very mild & made to be smelled!). ETA: I didn't have morning sickness...I had afternoon & evening sickness....that sucked! |
OK, another question, for those of you who's MS stopped, when it did stop was it pretty much gone for good...or would it be fire for a few days and then come back?

Oh - and my MS was funny -- the first couple weeks, it was in the AM -- I would be much better by 2pm. Then it moved to mid-day, and I would be better after 6pm. Then it completely took over, and I was sick all day. All I can say was it felt like walking on a boat all day for me. Every step I could feel the sway under me. And throwing my guts up never helped (you know usually if you're sick, you throw up and you're okay) -- nuh huh - it made it worse! I did take phenegran finally, and it helped, but those Sea Bands really helped a lot. I hope that you'll feel better soon!! |
