Yes er thanks Colonist.
Anyway, on Wicca I believe I heard a great book on it and its surrounding discussion is 'Drawing Down the Moon'. I think that's the title. I haven't read it myself but have read v. good things about it some time back. As AchtungBaby80 pointed out it apparently is indeed a relatively new thing (latter part of 20th century).

ETA: Following a check on Amazon.com, that is the correct title.

Not sure how so?. The thread was about Wicca and some people asking about it. I recommended that book as apparently one of the best resources out there if people are interested in the subject.

Re: Wicca

People threw rocks at Wiccans when I was in high school.

Why so much harshness? Ya know, some people have the same feelings about Wiccan's as others do about Greeks, so man, chill :)

Another ironic statement..... so bigotry and ignorance are okay now....

Anyways I know quite a few wiccans around here at UofT, and I see alot of posers also. For the most part they are pretty accepting of other beliefs and practices and are more that happy to explain what they actually do. Ironically the place they have the most acceptance from is St. Mike's the Catholic college here on campus.

Oh yeah they can put together a pretty kick-ass party when they set thir minds to it :)

I consider myself as Judeo-Wiccan.

Only people who are accepting of other people's beliefs and not ignorant are allowed to make comments like that about others.

At my high school, the only acceptable forms of jewellery were school rings, stud earrings (and you can't have multiple piercings, either) and a religious symbol on your neck. One girl wore a Wiccan symbol and was almost suspended for doing so because the school chaplain thought it was a symbol for the devil.

It's a very thourough, well written book. Another very good book is "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk. And anything by Silver Ravenwolf should be avoided like the plague...

I am a Christian. However I have known Wiccans, and a lot of people have misconceptions about it. It is NOT about worshipping Satan, or wearing goth clothes, or whatever. It is more about balance, and peace, and worshipping nature elements.

I *personally* don't believe in their religion...but if it works for them, that's cool. :)
