AOX81,

For the record, I wore black shoes with dark navy blue pants today to work. They weren't dressy enough to wear to a job interview, though. I don't know if that makes a difference.

So, you are not alone. We "faux pas'd" together!!!

I HATE navy and black together...my boyfriend and his cousin...I swear that's all they wear!

Ok, second dumb question of the thread:

What about brown (suede like casual) shoes with black pants?

I'm pretty sure this is a fashion no-no, but I do it alot because they're really comfy to waitress in and my uniform pants are black...

What type of "dress shoe"???? Are we talking a pair of Manolo's or some payless granny flats?

Also, it depends on your industry. In some fields, they're happy you showered, in others, the wrong choice may mean they pick someone else over you. It may seem silly, but I've been interviewed and gotten great comments about my Kate Spade bag. Since you often don't know the character of the person you'll be dealing with, better to err on the side of caution [ie my fun plaid bag didn't come to work until I passed the probationary period :)].

Best of luck!

THAT IS WRONG.

Brown and black are the biggest fashion no no no no no ever.

I guess you'd have a problem with every lawyer or investment banker that wears navy suits and black shoes.

hahahahaha, there is a thing in the newest Lucky about how to wear brown and black together.

Anyway - get some black all weather mocs from Land's End. They are the comfiest shoes ever and will go better than brown.

edit since Rudey is backing me up on this one. :)
navy dress pants - black shoes, unless you have navy shoes that match
navy twill pants - brown or cordovan shoes

Wearing Navy and Black
Question:Is it ok to wear black dress pants or a black skirt with a navy blouse or shirt?
Kristen
Answer: No, I do not recommend combining a navy blouse with black pants or skirt unless the navy is a brighter or lighter blue than the typical navy or midnight-navy hues. Otherwise, the outfit would come across as looking a bit dull and off somehow. All other shades and tones of blue (royal, powder, pastel, steel, aqua, and French) mix beautifully with black.

Ironically, black shoes and hosiery can be worn with navy clothing, skirt, pants, or dresses. In the fashion world, black shoes and hosiery are actually preferred over navy shoes when wearing navy garments, unless the selected garment is of a “royal navy” hue and the shoes match exactly. Navy dies tend to vary in tone significantly when applied to leather products, such as shoes and bags; thus, it’s often difficult to match navy shoes to an outfit. The shoe rule of thumb, saying that ideally your shoes are as dark or darker than your hem length, allows for black shoes to be worn with navy.

Back to your dilemma. Regarding the garment colors of an outfit, black mixes successfully with almost all colors, except for classic navy. With that, there are more empowering options for you.

Best of luck to you,
Sherry Maysonave

Black and Brown, depends on how you wear them!

Rudey, what are they supposed to wear Nike Retards? Black is in, a comfortable state, goes with everything.

Ah, Fashion, Fashion, bullshit. We had a Fashion Coordinater At Macy's who when the elevator fell, did not fall down, it drove the heels of her shoes into her ankles! All for Fashion!

Hell, when I go out dressed up, and wear suspenders, I wear my old Rainbow Suspenders let them laff!:D I do have Black , Brown and Burgandy ones though, but I am expected to wear them!:D

Now, if you look good and feel like Sh*T, will you present yourself at the Top of "Oh, I really Want This Job"! Or wear something that makes you become the One From Hell?

Hell, I carried a gun when I interviewed with JC Penney, got the job, but what a bunch of retarted fu-----g Morons!

Oh, was looking at a job in Management, I is a College Graduate!:D

AOX81 01-28-2004 05:45 PM

I guess it really doesn't matter anymore because I got the job! :)

Tom Earp 01-28-2004 05:52 PM
