Oh God! I just love the Median Reports of this and that! Rhyms with Frick and Frack!
Drinking is a Social function, it is only at the times that it is taken to extremes that causes the majority of the problems. Has anyone been to Faucalty functions with finger food and a punch bowl that will knock you on your butt? My Law Prof. had a select few people over to his house at the end of each Semester. Few were invited from his classes, very selective. Hell, no damn stinking punch bowl, a full blown bar. I considered it an honor to one of those invited along with my wife (EX) and family as his guests. Extremes are what get Greek Organizations in trouble, not the social use of said Demon Rum! Ah yes Proabition, the Great American experiment that made Millionaires out of a few People, Kennedys, Broufhmans, Capone! Education and watching for serious problems is a better key than slapping the hands or fining the people! |
Just remember, historians estimate the consumption of alcohol between 1919-1933 actually tripled during Prohibition! Prior to Prohibition it really wasn't socially acceptable for women to really even drink, but in the 20s it was fashionable.

Before this protocol change, the Office of Student Affairs was not required to forward vague and non-specific complaints to the police, Hogan said. ...... Since 1970, at least one U.S. college student has died per year in a hazing-related incident, according to a fact sheet produced by National Hazing Prevention Week, a campaign sponsored by college speaker agency CAMPUSPEAK. |
