I think that a major reason we have a longer life expectancy is better medical care. We get vaccinated against diseases and take antibiotics to treat infections that killed millions before World War II. Influenza, polio, the measles, and the mumps killed so many people. Now if you are vaccinated, you have a great chance of never getting sick.
