In ADPi, we try to match up all of our collegiate chapters with an area alumnae association. This association helps provide support through fundraising for chapter improvements and local scholarships, a steady source of advisers/house corp, and co-education opportunities, philanthropy, etc.
For chapters that have no local area association, we try to pair them up with alumnae assoc.'s who may be a couple hundred miles away. These groups write letters to each other and help with long-distance support (donations, helping prepare items for recruitment, etc.) The alumnae associations have no say in how a chapter is run, nor are they priivy to details of chapter business, unless otherwise notifed by the international alumnae officer team. The alumnae associations operate independently of the chapter, and exist to provide alumnae with a rich post-college sorority experience. But appointed alumnae volunteers like chapter advisers and international alumnae officers have direct impact in supporting, advising and directing the collegiate chapter. A chapter of ADPi is a branch of the international organization, and follows the sorority's standards and practices. To ensure efficiency and that these standards are being upheld, local, regional and international alumnae volunteers are in place to assist the chapter to help them make good decisions and form strong leaders, academics, service and relations with campus/Panhellenic. |
