HM, guess it just boils done to having so many Letters In the Greek Alphabet!:)
Of course, the Greek Organizations whom start out with with State, Name, Alpha, Beta etc. will never have these problems. But the ones Such as LXA that go by the Greek Designation ergo will always have duplicate designations from other Organizations!:D |

On a short note: whenever i heard someone talk about DY the fraternity, i used to get excited because i thought they were talking about us, but then i realized there was a fraternity called Delta Upsilon....crushed me for all of 5 minutes :-) Greek Love and Mine ~*~Mandie~*~ |
the UT Austin chapter of AXO is the Alpha Phi chapter

Just out of curiosity, when you have an Alpha Phi chapter, is it Pheye or Phee?

The Phi in Alpha Phi Omega is pronounced Pheye, not Phee.

i know there is a phi mu chapter of chi omega at lehigh university. it was funny becuase phi mu and chi o did presentations when they added a new chapter.
there is also a phi mu chapter of alpha chi rho at lehigh. one of my sisters was dating one of the brothers and we hung out a few times. |
Not that this has anything to do with chapters but it was a question posed.
When you say 'Alpha Phi' the 'Phi' is 'Phee'. If you were saying 'Gamma Phi Beta' or 'Pi Beta Phi' the 'Phi' would be 'Pheye'. Took me awhile to learn that. :) Brianna |
We'd have to do a LOT of expansion before we ran into that problem! :p
We have: Alpha Phi (Ohio University) Alpha Chi (Boston University) (could be taken for AXO) Phi Mu (SUNY Binghamton) We too have an Epsilon Zeta chapter (ASU)... if I'd joined that chapter I think I wouldn't have gotten a chapter guard :p (Some of these might be closed. I'm using AEPhi's website as my reference because I'm too lazy to get out my new member manual.) I too wonder what you'd do if your chapter designation was the same as another sorority on campus... like if you're in the Alpha Phi chapter and Alpha Phi also has a chapter at your school. I can imagine a lot of confused PNMs... |
