I consider myself to be slightly left of center...

I don't think I would have been happy dating someone who was wayyy to the right. Nor would I have been particularly happy dating people who were wayyy to the left. But you'd have to be pretty far to one side or the other (think: no argument on this earth will sway my opinion) to ruffle my feathers.

As long as he's not too extreme, I'm fine.

Rudey 12-12-2003 01:22 AM

I think regardless of what party she's in I'd be right on every issue so parties don't matter.

Marx is arguably the first economist and believe in laws - he also believed that capitalism must be reached in its fullest before Communism took place.

I would never date anyone from the far left.

absolutuscchick 12-12-2003 02:30 AM

I guess its a non-issue UNLESS the person feels like they have to convince me that their way is right. That just DOES NOT work for me!!! I have my views and you are NOT going to change them!!

BUT...I could never be in a serious relationship with someone who didnt believe in abortion or gay rights. The other stuff I can somewhat tolerate, but dont mess with those issues!!

FAB*SpiceySpice 12-12-2003 02:45 AM

My boyfriend is a Republican and while it drives me UP THE WALL, since I am definately a Democrat, we have just agreed to disagree when it comes to politics, and we never bring it up. Since the other 99.9% of our interests and whatnot are exactly the same, we figured we'd be ok. ;)

I'm with you on that. I've dated guys from both parties and it has always been a non-issue for me except around election time. My boyfriend now is a Democrat so that works in my favor. :) But, no matter what political party they're in, I want to be with someone who is in favor of abortion and gay rights. Those are two issues for me that I'm very passionate about and I just couldn't be with someone who is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum than me.

I've dated Republicans, but I'm not sure I could see myself ever being in a very serious relationship with one or marrying one. Lifeviews are too different. But then again, I'll never say never -- if I found a Republican who wasn't too, too conservative, and who accepted my leftward leanings, I think I could accept his tendencies to the right without too much trouble. After all, I've managed to live with my die-hard Republican parents for the past 20 years!

honeychile 12-15-2003 12:29 AM

It would be more on the issues as opposed to the party. Mr. honeychile is a Democrat, but he also lives in the city of Chicago. Our political ideals are the same, though.

I actually moved to where I live because there was a higher Republican registration compared to where I used to live!

Libertarian ain't left...

It's in its own region :D

I'd say it's closer to right-wing.. ya know.. taking personal responsibility for your actions?:D

Back on subject... non-issue.

Munchkin03 12-15-2003 12:46 AM

According to him, there are left-leaning Libertarians, and there are right-leaning ones. :)

Left vs. Right is a False Dichotomy

I scored as follows:
Your Personal Self-Government Score is 80%
Your Economic Self-Government Score is 70%
I'm in the Libertarian quadrant, slightly towards the "Left Liberal" side.
