Some of the bridal shops in the western burbs and northern burbs (think Mequon) also have some nice formal dresses.
I bought my senior prom dress at the Boston Store in Brookfield -- and it wasn't skanky! :) If I remember correctly, they had a lot of nice stuff that the other Boston Stores in Madison and a couple other Milwaukee suburbs didn't have.

Yes, I dragged my daddy around all of Wisconsin to find my senior prom dress.

Woodfield Mall would also be a great place to look if you're willing to do some driving.

Yay! I'm so stuck in my Downtown/Bayview idea of Milwaukee that I forget there are suburbs :) Where is Woodfield mall?

Good point :)

Do you have the store Windsor by you? I love Windsor-- lots of trendy clothes and it has a huge selection of formal dresses... I'm always like I want one but I have no where to go!

I have noticed this problem with dresses lately. I don't want to dress like a skank, but I don't want to dress like a matronly senior citizen either. Good luck finding the right dress. :)

It's fine. I actually think Mayfair is safer than Grand Ave or Southridge. The only reason there's been problems is because freaking soccer moms have panic attacks if they see a *gasp* black person.

ETA after I saw your other question: Woodfield is in Schaumburg. It's about an hour from Marquette's campus if you drive fast.

I dropped my little brother off at a school dance recently (jr. high, to be specific) and all the girls looked like wee little street walkers (which my bro liked, obvi). Apparently they're the market's target group.

Come on, y'all are too young to be acting so old and embittered already! "When I was in middle school, girls wore clothes appropriate for their age! Shirts that covered their bellybuttons and no cleavage-baring tops, and their skirts came to their knees!" :p

i blame it all on britney spears.....i'm on the rampage tonite, watch out! bwahahaa!!!

did you ever think of getting one made for you? pick out a pattern and get it made quick! normally, it's not any more expensive than paying for a store dress....plus, it fits PERFECT!

Have you tried a store that sells wedding dresses and formal wear? They usually have classy dresses and can alter your dress to fit a size 2.

Another thought would be to maybe check out some catalogs. There might be some that you can give them your dimensions for a certain dress you like in the catalog and they can specially tailor it. Maybe not the safest way to go since you won't be there to be fitted, but just a thought.

Don't forget the outlet stores between Chicago and Milwaukee, there are quite a few options there.

my prom dress was so beautiful, it was lilac and flow lenght and princess cut, very classy and not at all trending

MeLikey 11-23-2003 05:01 PM

You can also try looking in Cache... I got my prom dress from a store called Zan... mine was beaded and very classy with just a sexy open back (the neckline was high like a halter, but clasped in the back of the neck not a tie) and it was black with a red-ish sheer material over it making it maroon and it had intricate beading all over the entire dress.
