Loike soror lovelyivy84 said, the whole Tommy H thing was/ is kind of an urban legend b/c Tommy H has never been a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show. At least at the time the whole "drama" was going on a few years back. And I don't think he's been on anytime recently either.

Coming to PBS on Feb. 9th and the 16th from 9 PM to 11 PM (EST) is the four-part series Slavery And The Making Of America, produced by Dante James, and narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Dante is an incredible filmmaker who has produced many award wining films among them biographies on Marian Anderson (AKA) and A. Philip Randolph (Phi Beta Sigma). He worked with the late great filmmaker Henry Hampton at Blackside and was the executive producer of Hampton's last series This Far By Faith: African American Spiritual Journeys.

Slavery And The Making Of America tells the story of slavery from the point of view of the enslaved. The series recognizes the strength, humanity and dignity of the enslaved and redefines them as pro-active freedom fighters not passive victims.

It is essential to pass this email on to friends and family and encourage them to watch. If we can create a large audience for this important series PBS will be forced to produce and air more programs that address the African-American experience. There are also two web sites for the series they are www.psb.org/slavery and www.slaveryinamerica.com.

Please pass this email on and be sure to tune in.

Sorry for crashing, but I just checked snopes.com, and neither Tommy Hilfinger nor Liz Claiborne have said such a thing. I only pray that no one else did, either.

Whoever wrote that piece of garbage need to put it where it belongs - where the sun don't shine! It's hateful trash put out by trash who hates.

As for the literacy part, I wish I could say that there was a 100% literacy rate for all African-Americans, just as I wish I could say the same about caucasion-American. If there's one person in the United States who cannot read or write, that's one too many!

Oh, and thank you for the dates for the PBS special - I'll be looking forward to it!

Sounds like a newer version of the same old propaganda via the Willie Lynch letter. As far as not reading,- I wonder who is buying the books - both fiction and non-ficition that African American authors are writing. Seems to me that we can read and write too! Also, look at the publications available such as Black Enterprise, Upscale, Ebony and Jet! he wished we didn't read. Sounds like this is just another stereotype of African Americans. We have businesses and investment clubs and we are working within our communities to make a difference!

PLEASE WATCH!!!

PBS did a teacher workshop on this special here in Houston on Thursday and I attended, it was so good!! I urge all of you to watch on 2/1 and 2/8, they traced Chris Tucker's people all the way back to Angola!

Frustrations

I really hope I can get my DVD recorder set up correctly before this. I have sound but no video, and I really want to be able to record this documentary.
