That sounds realistic. The market for those dropped (we all hate pop-ups!) so now there's premium packages etc. Adding extra features for extra $$ would keep the margins looking good.

So as I'm understanding, it's like match.com etc but geared specifically to collegiate age students unlike existing ones which are for all ages but generally cater to professional people with less time for bars and whatnot. And, you plan to innovatively offer a greek element so they can search for/specify GLOs etc?
So if I was a female and logged into it I could browse Pikes? Or as a guy I could look for ZTAs in Cali interested in whatever. Obviously the details will all come later but broadly speaking have I understood what you're planning?

Maybe he'll have a category on there called "Imaginary Fraternity" and you can look for girls in there that match you.

There are websites called www.meetgreeks.com and www.meetagreek.com which is down for maintenance.

It sounds like a great idea! Good luck! :)

Following a quick query on each domain...

With regard to meetagreek.com, the domain is owned by one Christos Poulloura living in England. Most likely assumption is this one is (to be) set up as a site for meeting ethnic greeks, given the name and location of the domain owner (outside N. America).

The first one, www.meetgreeks.com, does mention (mainly) NPHC orgs (for e-greeting cards) but as well as being down for maintenance doesn't look as if it's been updated in a long time (given dates on site etc).

Doesn't look as if they're in a similar vein to your proposal so like Peaches-n-Cream said it sounds like a great idea and seems a pretty unique one too. Good luck!

well i think there are already college dating sites but i am 99% sure they don't ask anything about Greek affiliation.

i think its a great idea because as an active greek I find non-greeks definitely don't understand why people become so involved in the GLO and why its such a time committment. i actually prefer to date greeks, the only problem is the greek community at my school is so small that everyone always finds out all your business.

Girl, even at big schools that schit happens. Its gonna happen regardless. I'm infamous in a couple of house at UF, and UF has a big Greek community. If you're popular amongst certain circles at your college, your buisness is going to be found out. It doesn't matter if you hooked up with a chick in the frat house, that schit is gonna get out to other chicks and/or your girlfriend in some way or form. After a while you just don't give a rats a$$, I started liking the idea of bouncing from to house to house to house. It got to the point where, if i saw a girl I liked....I'd introduce myself to her at a party and tell her I'm going to seduce her before its all said and done....most of them thought it was funny. In a lot of cases it was true.

I don't think Richard likes that comment. You guys shouldn't pick on Decadence. I think he's trying to get a frat started over there.

cashmoney 11-06-2003 09:23 PM

Question, why would nationals get pissed at this?

Word. The dating pool becomes a puddle after a certain age. ;)

Non-Greeks don't understand what Greeks go through yet dating a Greek means that your life becomes a public display and what you do for the whole system, esp as a school with a small greek system. I would be open to dating a greek but very careful on what greek if he was from my school. A greek from anthor school I wouldn't care about. I was talking about this with one of the greek guys at my school yesterday and he agreed that he isn't a fan of dating in the system

Yea even at my school, with a huge greek system, you can't avoid this. And like my little sis says people here "never die!!!" ie you will still run into EVERY person you ever date/casually see/have a one night stand with ALL the time. It really does suck. And in most cases once you've dated a guy from one fraternity chances are you are not going to date one of his brothers later on down the road. HOWEVER, that doesn't apply to randomly making out and I think in a few cases even dating. :p :D
