CD-Roma-Loma

Hey, gang: From what I've seen of the CD to date, it works very well when looking up an individual ("Joe Dokes") or all people w/the same last name ("Jackson"). However, it seems to take off on tangents that don't work at all when looking things up by "Institution" or occupational info.

I've got both a Dell (Windows ME desktop) and Mac (PowerBook G4 laptop using OS 10.2.8). When I attempt to seek something other than "Name" in both OS's the CD just spins around w/out going anywhere. After about 5 minutes I get an error message and it shuts itself down.

FYI, the only "Talmadge's" shown on the CD are the aforementioned Ferris (Syracuse 1918, deceased) and George (Miami-Ohio 1974, address unknown). Anybody graduating after 2002 is probably not included.

Bottom line: I've attempted to look things up for the various chapters I'm working for, and it's helpful for individual names. Otherwise, it's only so-so TFN. If people have queries, send me a PM - glad to help a bro!

Thank you Matt and Bill. I guess I really need to hook up with someone who has access to the records at Syracuse if I'm to find out his Zeta# and personal history while at the school.

You see, the Talmages (no 'd') settled in this town about 350 years ago and have been here ever since. In the 1930's my father worked for Ferris, planting potatoes. One of my best friends from high school is his grandson.

When I told John I joined Lambda Chi, he said, "My grandfather was a Lamb Chop - we still have his badge". That was in 1972. He must have heard the term "lambchop" in the land of Beta up at Orono.

Well, we've always kept in touch, but I ran into John at the lumber yard yesterday and he said he'd find that badge and bring it over to my house so I can look at it. He also thinks they might also have the one from the Commons Club!

I just thought it would be nice if I could tell him some things about his grandfather when he comes over.

Thanks again for your help. Anyone from Syracuse???

Jono

i think it would be a good idea for each chapter to be able to get one at a discounted rate. We have a colony up here in Alaska UAA and do not have a large alumni base.

crmdogg03,

Welcome to greekchat! That directory at ABE books is still available for only $28.00. Somebody's gonna grab it.

Josh, good to see ya on site and along with Brother Jono, I too wish you welcome!

Have been trying to get info on you Guys for a long time to see what is up.. Do you have a web site?

2 of LX Z Brothers are up in the tundra working for schools districts. Rick Luthi was asked at one time to work on getting the Colony started but was up to butt in whale blubber steaks!:D

crmdogg03 11-13-2003 03:57 PM

thanks for the welcome tom, a web site is something we deffinantly need to work on, i believe there is one, but not all that great, none of us have any background in that, i was trying to take a class in that this semester, but it wouldnt count for my credits. I will say that the colony up here is deffinantly on the right track, especially in a very small, unknown greek system such as UAA.-Josh
