I spoke to my AKA friend who is from Alpha chapter and she confirmed YES Phylicia Rashad is an Alpha chapter AKA...as well as Toni Morrison, and Roxy Roker.

If anyone has any other Alpha chapter history inquiries, I am more than happy to hook you up with your Soror. She's actually a very dear friend of mine and a big history buff.

All of that stuff is pretty easy to confirm by simply looking at old Bison yearbook. (All of us had to do it as part of our initial research).

Happy Holidays ALL!!!

I am not sure but I was told (I'm not an Alpha Chapter soror but I was made in DC)that she wasin the Ivy Leaf Plegde Club but dropped. I was also told that she was extended membership into Delta Sigma Theta and after they found out that bit of info the issue of her honorary membership was dropped in some way shape or form. This info may not be 100% correct but I heard it from a pretty reliable source. That is why so many people don't know if she is one, the other or both. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

thanks soror lluvmook for your insight i think you hit it on the head with your post. i prefer not to give out false/shady info so as an Alpha Chapter soror i went straight to the source to confirm, and after speaking with sorors from different years "drum roll" Debbie Allen is an eternal ivy, not a soror and i think we'll leave it as that because obviously she would prefer to keep that on the downlow http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif. and yes Phylicia Rashad is a soror of Alpha Chapter of that Finer Woman there was NEVER any doubt, thanks for your input, BUT when it comes to soror business/history i prefer to go straight to the source as i am a soror of AKA and i was made at Alpha so i have more then enough resources to confirm/quench any history inquiries sorors may have about MY chapter.

I really did not mean to appear to be in your "biz". There seemed to be a discrepency. And Phylicia not only your Soror is a fellow alumnus of my school...and a very visible Howardite at that. I sensed an air of disdain in the past few posts. If I have disrespected any of you in the smallest way, I apologize.

From my point of view it would have been like my aka friend saying yes Zora Neale Hurston is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. common knowledge at HU...she actually named the Hilltop (the college newspaper)(I have heard people try to debate this)...but its verifiable. My aka friend knows not only was Zora a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. but she pledged at Howard University.

Quite frankly, the web has opened up a nasty can of worms for all of us in terms of information. I have read on webpages of other organizations (mine included) misinformation regarding famous members and other history (not the basic stuff we all state). Shoot in many cases, you cannot confirm 100% that the person who created the page is even a member. There are thousands upon thousands of sites greek related...imagine that.

Postively, when did you cross at Alpha chapter? You probably know my girl...She is 8-A-94....she just finished her MBA at HU this past year.

Best to you all...Happy Kwanzaa for those of you celebrating!

Speaking of the Alpha Chapter of AKA, I have a dear friend who was made there in '96. Her name is Joi Huff and I haven't seen her since I left HU shortly after she crossed. Stace is a good buddy, too, as well as Kim (the tail of that line). If anyone knows how to contact her, e-mail me with the info or give her mine. My personal webpage addy is: http://lajune.net
