(sorry for crashing your boards!)

Adultery - sure.

Rape - I'm leaning towards no.

I did some work with a professional sports team (now defunct). Any woman who goes into a hotel room with an athlete alone has put herself in a really bad position. I find it very hard to believe that a woman who works in a hotel didn't know that.

Then, the evidence presented yesterday didn't help her much.

Choo-ChooAKA 10-16-2003 02:01 PM

Adultery - certainly

Rape - I'll fall-in with AKA2D'91 and Steeltrap; I wasn't there - don't know.

I concur with Honeychile re. entering a room alone with a member of a pro sports team - really not a good move, but, how old is she?

I know this is going to sound crazy, but.....

I HOPE he is not guilty of rape.

I also HOPE she is not lying.

When I was a 19 year old teenager, freshman in college, I know I put myself in some compromising situations with men I bearly knew, thinking he's a college student, he's a nice guy. I thank my God above that nothing ever happened to me in those situations. I would like to think that if something did, folks wouldn't accuse me of all kinds of things.

Guilty of rape? HELL NO!

I agree!!! You know what reallyyyyyy trips me out is people still...esp'ly MARRIED people..... still run around having unprotected sex w/ people they don't know???!!!!! No wonder the HIV/AIDS rate for young people is still getting higher and higher as the years go by! So sad!

pointNclick 10-16-2003 03:15 PM

Hmm...

I can not be sure of what happened. Only he and the young woman can really answer that. He is guilty of cheating on his wife and making a poor decision that will affect his family (including his child). Either way, I was never a big Kobe fan and his recent actions have not helped any.

If he is guility, he needs to go to jail as should all women/men who committ the crime of rape. If he is innocent, he won't be in "jail" physically, but his life will still be hell (pardon my French) to some extent.

Guilty.

She may be a skank and guilty of being naive and using bad judgment, but that's not a crime.

The bell boy saw her immediately before her tour with Kobe and immediately after. After the fact there were bruises on her neck, and there were witnesses in surrounding rooms who heard her yelling "NO" And in Colorado, a person has the right to change their mind even during sex.

I heard that the semen and pubic hair were rumors--was that confirmed?

nikki1920 10-16-2003 03:32 PM

The semen and pubic hairs were not a rumor.
Adultery: yes, by his own admission

Rape: I'm leaning towards no, which is hard for me to say b/c I was almost raped in college...

I think the girl is not telling the truth..

No he's not guilty. Let's look at some of yesterday's findings:

The panties she wore the next day to the courthouse had semen of a man other than Kobe and pubic hair of a white man. She says that this is not the same pair of underwear worn the night of the alleged rape.

1. Was she wearing dirty underwear that she just picked up off the floor that morning. NASTY! Maybe there should be a search warrant and they should examine all of her dirty underwear and find out how many different DNA matches they may find.

2. Did she have sex with someone after Kobe? That explains the semen and pubic hair. Now, if so....this is completely relevant because you DO NOT go out and have sex with someone right after being "raped".

Either way, she's a skank.

Okay, I agree with that last statement. If all of this is true, she is clearly a skank. However, I don't agree that any of the rest is relevant to the fact that Kobe may or may not have raped her. Just because she allegedly had sex with multiple partners doesn't meant she's not capable of being raped. We have to remember that Kobe DID admit to having sex with her. With that admission, all this talk about DNA is irrelevant. Personally, I wouldn't have sex with anyone soon after a rape, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. It's not like she was viciously attacked by some deranged lunatic in an alley. She alleges that it started as consensual kissing it went too far. Maybe it wasn't all that traumatizing to her and she's able to carry on normal sexual relationships. That still doesn't mean that it wasn't rape.

Now, I say all that to say I don't know if Kobe raped her. However, coming from a strictly legal perspective, the defense has presented nothing but irrelevant rhetoric. I believe the prosecution has convincing evidence in its arsenal and the defense better have something more than the "oh, but she's a slut" defense at the time of trial.

nikki1920 10-16-2003 03:47 PM

Then how do you explain the semen and pubic hair from a person that CLEARLY was not Kobe?

I agree with all of what you said..but the above bothers me.

TonyB06 10-16-2003 04:02 PM

Just reading the last 10 posts on this topic two words come to mind......reasonable doubt.

I still feel KB's in trouble without a change of venue. But her alleged past behavior, not making a judgement of it, would at least make me consider the possibility that what happened might have been consensual.

nikki1920 10-16-2003 04:05 PM

My point exactly.

But why does it matter if they found Kobe's semen and pubic hair or not? Absence of his DNA and presence of another man's would only be relevant in proving that Kobe didn't have sex with her at all. But he already ADMITTED that he had unprotected sex with her. The fact that they found the DNA of another man only means that she slept with Kobe and someone else. So, sue her. She's skanky, but that doesn't mean she's not a rape victim. Am I making any sense? I just don't get why people seem to think that finding another man's semen and pubic hair means Kobe didn't rape her.

evaclear04 10-16-2003 04:27 PM

No means No...no mater what.

He is no doubt an adulterer.... which should cause him enough shame.
As far as rape... there are only two people who have the complete answers.
One thing I can say is that you can't rule out the event just because of someone's sexual history or activities. That would be prejudging the situation.
There is a strong possibility that she was raped...but chose to handle the situation differently. In the same breath there is a strong possibility that she was not raped.

I totally agree with you! I can care less if he did it or not, but I strongly feel that he deserve whatever may come his way. If he really didn't rape this girl and still end up in jail for a crime that he did not commit...GOOD FOR HIM!!! That's what happens when you are STUPID and cheat on your wife. Freakin idiot!!! If he did rape the young lady I feel that he should rot in jail. Either way he needs to be punished. I'm truely sick and damn tired of men thinking that they can cheat and get away with it. They seem to think that they can apologize, shed a tear and buy some jewelry and all should be forgiven. WHATEVER!! And then get a tatoo talking about how Vanessa is his "Angel". He wasn't thinking about his "Angel" when he was in Colorado stickin' that chicken. Kobe is a straight up joke! As far as I'm concerned he need to lose everything. His career, his wife and whatever respect that people have/had for him. Let him be a prime example to other men of what can happen when they step out on their marriages.

Dang I didn't mean to vent like that.

:o  That was the SAME thing I was thinking. Either she put on some nasty 'draws' and went to the hospital or she slept with someone right after Kobe...

Kobe is guilty of adultery, no doubt.

Rape?? I'm still trying to decide.
