Whew! I just counted and we have 69!!! Most of them are deceased, but wow... that's a lot! To the best of my knowledge, these honorary members do not go through initiation, however. We do not perform initiation at our Triennial Conference, so if they were, it would have had to be through a collegiate chapter, and that just seems unlikely.
We also have National Patrons and Patronesses. What the difference is, exactly, I don't know, other than that there can be male patrons, whereas there are no male honorary members (that I saw at least) By a rough visual count, there are probably 100 of these. |
As far as I know, the only honorary member DZ has ever had is Dr. Guy Potter Benton, who was president of Miami University in 1902, when DZ was founded. He helped our founders write our ritual. Now, we could 947 other honorary members, but he's the only one I know of! :)

we do have some who are Honerary Members. Two of the most notables are Baseball Legend Stan"The Man" Musial of the St.Louis Cardinals and U.S. Senator John Ashcroft.

Alumnus Members may be initatied by an undergraduate chapter as a result of an unamimus vote by active brothers.
