you never stop judging, do you? you always make it try to be funny, but usually it just sounds dumb.

i am not a "scary animal activist" of any kind. i care about animals and think of their welfare. and yes, i probably would throw red paint on a fur wearer if i knew i wouldn't go to jail, which i would, which is why i don't do it.

it is good to know i am not alone in my reaction to this news. when i first heard about it from a customer at work, i could not stop laughing. i thought 'well he had it coming.' i felt guilty for acting rude but i couldnt help it. for a long time, i thought those two characters werent human.

It really was just a matter of time before one of their many animals got pissed off and retaliated.I was more surprised to find out that Roy was 59 years old than that he was mauled.

yeah, no kidding. I would have never though Roy is 59 yrs old.

Munchkin03 10-05-2003 11:15 AM

As terrible as it sounds, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. No matter how long you own a tiger, no matter how familiar you are with it and it with you, it can always go to its natural instincts.

I mean, I hope he's okay. But it's not surprising at all.

The wonders of plastic surgery and hair color. I saw them well over twenty years ago, and they had been around for quite a while then.

I still have no idea how they made a full size elephant disappear. Maybe it was magic.

Ok, fair enough. Let's make a deal, okay?

Solve EVERY human problem. End poverty, end hunger, end war, end murder, end rape. End every single problem that plights us.

Then maybe I'll care about animals......

Amen!

I wish an animal activist would throw red paint on GRANDMOTHER'S mink coat! She may be near 70 but she can still open up a can of whoop A$$!

Yeah, they are both senior citizens. Siegfried was perfroming as a magician in his early 20's in 1959 or the early 60's. You do the math.

Aside from the "obvious" plastic surgery, I would defy any other 60 year old man to run around in tights and wrestle with 700 pound lions and tigers.

All in all, the attack is a shame. I saw the show about 3 years ago, and it was great. The tigers are beautiful, and it was amazing the tricks they got them to do. I didn't see them hitting the tigers, they used verbal commands, so who knows what happened this time.

The unfortunate thing is that Siegfried and Roy are advocates of saving the big cat population, particualarly the tigers. Apparently there are less than 1000 tigers in the wild today due to poaching. They are supposedly working to reintroduce more tigers into the wild. The fact tigers are facing extinction is truly a shame, because I think they are some of the most beautiful creatures in the wild.

You touched upon an excellent point.

I think many of these animal rights activists who are adversive to caged animals in zoos aren't thinking clearly. These animals are not treated badly, they do not live under dangerous or uncomfortable conditions and probably have a higher level of emotional fulfillment than any of their wild counterparts. And this is not stating the obvious, that the information produced from being studied is best applied to ensure the animal will be around for a long time. So what's gonna happen if a wild animal, let's say tigers, do go extinct in the wild and there aren't any left in captivity to ensure the species' survival....anyone?

KSig RC 10-05-2003 01:07 PM

God, this is the funniest thread in weeks.

Anyone want to explain why we talk like humans aren't animals?

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of these animals live better than these people whose life goal is to protest or boycott SOMETHING.
