The Sox have hit the ball well all year, but...

Not going to be their year. The AL race is wide open, and I'm going to have to go with my team, the NEW YORK YANKEES (and once again, any of you all who think I'm a bandwagon jumper are wrong - I was a fan during the Andy Hawkins/Steve Balboni days)

Not sure about the NL - the Braves are very good but I don't know about their pitching; the Giants lineup is just too weak, and who knows who else will be there.

Giants' lineup weak? They can win games with their reserve players and AAA team! They'll take out the Braves. Anyone else with me in predicting another Bay Bridge World Series? AYE FEE???

GO GIANTS !!!

watch more baseball; other than bonds, their lineup is horrible.

I wouldn't take a single position player on that team who hasn't hit 70 homers over any analogous player on the red sox . . . or the yankees, for that matter (yes, their lineup has to be considered weaker than the sox at this point).

Think about it - boone over alfonso? easy - soriano over durham? easy - posada over the skeleton formerly known as benito? easy easy easy - the giants do NOT hit well enough.

They do throw the ball - but they lose to the Marlins in a short series (they won't score in ProP).

The Sox have a very real chance to knock off the yankees if the bullpen gets hot. If Kim acts like BK Kim circa 2001 . . . well then, it will be yanks in 5 jjust like in 99.

The Fish or the Braves will play the Sox or the Yanks, though - the other teams are keeping the dugouts warm.

I watch plenty of baseball, thank you very much. I've been watching baseball since I was in diapers. Apparently I'm not the only person that thinks the Giants will go all the way:

2003 Power Rankings: Week 24
Rank Team Rec. Comment

1 Giants 93-57 We have a strong feeling that this is the year for Barry Bonds and Co. Mark it down: Giants will be the ones holding a parade come late October ...

ESPN.COM

No one really believed they would make it last year, but they did. Granted, they didn't win,but they played their hearts out and will do it again this time. The Giants are an amazing 21-5 in games decided in the final at-bat. They make the key hits when they count.

Barry is one of the best to ever play the game, but he can't do it alone. This team plays well TOGETHER and everyone of them makes an outstanding contribution (even the reserves). Sure, as individuals, they might not seem like powerhouses or big name stars, but together, they have proven to be pretty much untouchable. They were only ever in second place in the NL West for less than a day.

All I can do is believe in my team, enjoy the post season, and cheer them on all the way. :D

I hate all Yankee fans. I hope Boston destroys you guys.

With that said, the Giants are the best team in the league. They will destroy everyone in the NL and most likely face the Yanks.

The difference between last year and this year is that Jeff Kent isn't there and that Benito Santiago isn't protecting Bonds AT ALL in the lineup. Alfonzo has been mediocre for most of the year, and they just don't have enough firepower - Bonds could very well be walked 70% of the time he gets to the plate in the playoffs.

It's great to have faith in your team - I have faith and hope that the Yankees will pull out another one. However, I also realize that in a short series, the Red Sox could out-muscle the Yanks and win it (and it pains me GREATLY to say that).

Should be a fun October if nothing else.

GO ROYALS!!

I'm going to watch them take the Chi-Sox tommorow at the K!!!

KSigkid 09-25-2003 08:46 AM

As an addition to this thread - who do you think will win the individual awards? Here's my guess (more on who deserves it than who will get it):

AL MVP: Brett Boone. He's kept the M's lineup going, even while Ichiro has struggled. He does it all - hits, hits for clutch, plays very good defense, even runs well. Nomar and Frank Thomas have been very good, but I'd give it to Boone.

NL MVP: Barry Bonds. He's carried that lineup, without him they just aren't the same. Pujols (my preseason pick) has been amazing, but take Bonds out of the Giants lineup and they're a completely different team.

AL Rookie of the Year: Rocco Baldelli. Matsui has been great, but he's NOT A ROOKIE. After playing all that time in Japan, he's a bona fide vet. Baldelli has been the very good at his first shot in the bigs playing on an awful Tigers team. Jody Gerut has had a good year too, but I'd vote for Baldelli.

NL Rookie of the Year: Brandon Webb. He's helped carry the Arizona rotation while Randy and Curt were hurt. He's been consistently solid all year, he gets my vote.

AL Cy Young: Roy Halladay. The Blue Jays are out of contention, but he's been sick, no doubt in my mind he should win it. Pedro and Esteban Loaiza have had very good years, but Halladay has been the best.

NL Cy Young: Mark Prior and Eric Gagne (tie). You can't ignore what either of these guys has done this season. Prior has been overpowering as a starter, Gagne has been unreal as a reliever. I truly think they should share the award, but I'm guessing Gagne will get it.

Those are my picks...we'll see.

Will all the Red Sox fans please just shutup? Honestly your team sucks...your city sucks. You are all inferior and have a complex that wicked sucks. You make lewd statements about Yankee players when you know your players are giving head for pocket change after games.

--That is wicked all so go pak yo cah in southie or something. Yeah!
