When I find out whether I'm getting a bid.
The fat lady is warming up, but I have no idea which song she's singing.

Aurrghhh....frustrated!

I was really, really, really looking forward to meeting the ladies of AOII again Tuesday evening at the next event...

*BUT*

I now have to go on a business trip all next week! Aurrgh! How frustrating! Of all the weeks to be asked to leave....it had to be this one.

I RSVPed the the woman holding the event at her house and also wrote to the chapter president (who I initially made contact with) telling them both I was so sorry I couldn't make it and that I would miss speaking with them again....

I *really* hope this doesn't happen again!

No worries Rebecca, last time I checked, alumnae are very understanding of the fact that you have a life. :) These things happen sometimes. Have a good business trip!

Oh honey, I understand-this is the theme of my AI search!! I just got the fall newletter of events for the org that I'm looking at, and do you know that the next event I can make it to is in DECEMBER??? Every other time I'm working or am out of town for weddings.....believe me, I understand your frustration!!

ai search

by rsvp'ing you let the ladies know of your continued interest in becoming a member. just make sure that in your note you say that you look forward to seeing them at the next function .
as others have said, alumna officers know that most of us have jobs, family, etc. that can sometimes throw wrenches in the best laid plans.
the best of luck to you all. lisa

I just wanna reiterate this because it's pretty much spot on. Contact is the key -- even dropping a quick email to people and letting them know that you can't make it signals that
#1: you care enough to let them know of your plans
#2: you are interested in hearing about more plans

There are tons of alums who don't do either -- so even if you can only make it to one or two events a year, the constant contact shows them that you are in fact interested.

Plus you let them know that the only reason you can't go is strictly timing.

And.......my alumnae chapter recently cancelled one event and changed the date of a second, after the newsletter was sent out so there's always the chance of a published date changing. If they know you're interested in attending, they'll know to contact you if the date changes.
