I thought that her voice was nice when she sung her little part on the song Survivor (remember that?), but when she came out with her first gospel single her voice didn't sound all that great to me. I thought that it was just that song. I haven't listened to anything else by her so I really don't know.

I saw some of the Diary with Beyonce, but I had to miss the other part because of class.

I think she is more out there in the media and everything because she works hard. She has the attitude of whatever I have to do, then so be it. Not to say that Kelly isnt the same way, but you didnt see her anywhere trying to promote her then new album when it came out. I mean you may have seen her on BET, but that was about it.

I think that people are use to seeing Beyonce because she was so much out in the front of DC. Thats all you saw whenever DC performed. Remember, Beyonce and dem. Matthew was always having her answer the questions in interviews and on tv and whenever the other two opened their mouths, they were praising her (Beyonce).

Dont get me wrong Im not a fan, but she is working her a$$ off, far as what she needs to do to get ahead. I mean she is doing her thing, BUT at the same time, being with Jigga is getting her all over the place too as far as him helping her write some of her album and them performing at the VMAs etc just to name a few. Of course, on the movie front I would like to assume that she is doing her OWN thing, but who knows? :confused:

Yes but managers are about making MONEY. He gets a cut of EVERYTHING that they do, and while I am sure that to some extent he seeks opportunities for them, they are at a level where his job is sorting through what comes to them from the many, man sources that want to work with the group. If someone offered him MONEY for Kelly or Michelle I DOUBT he'd say no just for Beyonce. That family is about business.

People want Beyonce. Say what you want about Kelly 'n em but nobody talks about them or really cares what they do. On her own, she would probably be at about a Keke Wyatt level of fame- just famous for being on other people's tracks for 15 minutes. Beyonce is the star quality, she just is.

Of course if Kelly starts dating 50 or somebody like that and hits the red carpet then that'll change, but she has never been in demand.

They aren't talking about them because HE is NOT putting them OUT THERE! He isn't working them like hebrew slaves. At one point, Beyonce will melt(down).

IMO, he's doing the minimum (just to say he's doing something) for the other two. If they like it, I love it. There is a difference in his technique where Michelle and Kelly are concerned.

I agree with AKA2D. I do not believe that the focus in on promoting Michelle or Kelly and that it was not on them even when their solo projects dropped. I do think they dropped Beyonce's last in order to give the appearance that it was not all about her but that was mostly a result of Latonya and Latavia suing them over this issue. When one person's entire family is running the business, there is no one in the world who could convince me that they are not going to favor the family member even if it is unintentionally. From the beginning the group was not balanced and Beyonce’ was the clear center. When Farrah left and put them on blast for all the ways they worked to keep Beyonce the center, I am sure there was some truth to her allegations.

I see the manager's job to sort through the offers that are coming in but also to seek out opportunities if not enough offers are coming. I do not get the feeling that Kelly was promoted very effectively or enthusiastically. Her album came out at a time when she was hot and riding high on a number one collaboration with Nelly. It did not seem that even that fact was used to its maximum potential to me.

We have artist running around who are "on top" for no other reason than superior management. They have truly made them stars and they are not coming from the best selling girl group of the time. I just do not feel like there is any reason why it could not have been so with Kelly and Michelle. I do think it would be DRAMA FO YO MAMA if either one were to want a different manager for their solo career.

I will wrap this all up by confessing that I am a DC fan and a Beyonce fan and I do think she is the most talented. I do not feel the fact that DC does not seem much like a group too often and more of Beyonce and her back up singers and I do not feel the way Michelle and Kelly practically genuflect when they talk about Beyonce in interviews.

Beyonce has more market value because offffff....... :confused:? Maybe we will get more into the light/dark issue :confused: Keeping your clothes on/off issue :confused: what? Long hair/short hair issue... what? :confused: Long legs/short legs...big thighs (hips)thigh (hips)...

Let's remember her father was a IBM executive...a salesman! HE is responsible for sales. HE SALES Beyonce! He MARKETS Beyonce. HE IS THE PRIME REASON WE SEE HER OR DON'T SEE HER, KELLY, AND MICHELLE.

Kelly has done plenty of stuff- I have seen her in at least two movies that were very well promoted and she had her solo album.

I donloaded that album. It was boooring and not worth my money.

I downloaded the Beyonce album. It was fiyah and I'm buying it.

They both had the same musical and production talent behind them, the diffrence is that Beyonce wrote hers- and I don't think that Matthew Knowles went to the producers and told them not to make Kelly's stuff good, because that would mean less money for him. She only got played on VH1 for a reason.

As for the color thing, I think that IS one reason that Beyonce is in the spotlight, but I would consider it more of a factor if I felt their main/only audience was black, simple beause I know how WE do. To the white audience we are all "negroes" regardless of tone. It would be a bigger issue to me if she was mixed.

I agree with you and lovelyivy.

Managers have a lot of say in where their artists are going to do appearances. But step back and look at the bigger picture for a minute. If you are looking at Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle on an individual level, can you really expect them to be on an even playing field?

Beyonce looks better (according to America's standards of beauty), sings better, performs better, acts better, and just in general has far more charisma and appeal.

Kelly and Michelle will forever be in the background if they are grouped with someone like Beyonce who simply outshines them. And it is not something that Matthew or ANYONE can control, much of that is just natural ability/God given talent.

I just can't see someone who is as greedy as Matthew Knowles (allegedly) is deliberately sabotaging or underming the career of 2 of his own acts. Especially because you have to invest a certain amount to get the albums produced and promoted meaning he could potentially lose money.

Are the people who think that Beyonce is being marketed differently saying that Michelle and Kelly have as much talent as she does? Or are y'all saying that Matthew should work double time to promote them?

I saw the Diary, and you know what? Despite her often horrible nappy weave she is very attractive and down to earth. I never and going me jumping and shouting on the Beyonce band wagon, but she is talented, personable and pretty, what is really not to like about her? I have also noticed she has moved away from the "nest weave" and opted for a much better job on the hair.

Oprah and Beyonce' were pee-poppin' on national television. I liked the show. First of all, I like Selma Hayek, so I was already smiling, but there is something about the way that Oprah can make someone feel about a guest. I smiled when Beyonce' was on the show -- I smiled while she was talking about her group -- I smiled when they showed pictures of her and Sean in St. Tropez -- I smiled . . . good show and good idea to get her on the show.

edited to add that I smiled when she said that she has a lifetime membership card to Popeye's -- she won't use it because she is embarrassed, but that's another interesting little tidbit.
