Perhaps Erik means the legal age to go to a bar.

OT, but isn't there a lower drinking age in the French Quarter in NO? Or is that wishful thinking? :D

I don't know what Erik intended, but I read his comment about the drinking age as only one in the many events that have left the Greek System at Boulder in a shambles over many years.

When taken in that context, the comment makes sense. At least to me.

I am not sure what year you graduated, but when I did the greek system (as far as NPC/IFC goes) was actually doing quite well after rebounding from the miserable incidents it was going through the previous two years. As far as the rankings go, like DeltAlum pretty said, take it with a grain of salt. But, even though greeks make a small percentage of the student body at UM, I would definatelty say that it still has a big presence/pretty big voice on the campus.

33girl, when Congress initially encouraged/forced the states to raise it to 21, Louisiana was the last state that resisted (by turning down federal highway funds). However, it did eventually cave, and the drinking age is 21 there as everywhere.

Now does this mean you're going to get carded in the French Quarter? I wouldn't worry too much about it. ;)

OK, in that context, it does make more sense. I think I've been picking apart too many arguments this semester. :)

i go to nola regularly, one of my best friends works in restaraunt on bourbon street. there are places that you WILL get carded in the french quarter and i know people who have been ticketed or arrested for underage drinking or public intoxication in the quarter. it is still very easy to get drinks, but there can be some consequences! this is just FYI...i don't want any of you getting into too much trouble down here! i also notice that it seems very easy for people to get drinks here in the red stick, too! there are always older people around to buy, and no one seems to care that there are drunken kids falling around all over the place...

I graduated in 2001. I never really thought of the IFC/NPC having a big presence on campus because I rarely saw them expect when it was greek week or Rush.

Like I said, they are probably just looking at the IFC/NPC groups. That's the problem that I have with these types of listings. Most of the time they ONLY look at IFC/NPC. I think they need to be a little bit more specific on who was in their survey.

Also, when I think of the "Top 10" greek campus, I think of the number of greeks on campus. If they were just talking about the voice that greeks have on campus, they should of said that.
