We have orientation for the new students in my program today - I think I'll wear my badge!

I'm so glad I saw this thread this morning.

I wear it for formal events as well as sorority events. I wore it on my wedding day (descretely of course) and wear it to formal award ceremony/dinner/dance things that Intel puts on yearly (when my husband gets an award). But, I also try to stay active as an alum and do things with the chapter as often as possible.

I haven't worn my badge since college...never really thought about it. I've been saving it in a special place to hopefully pass down to my daughter. I do wear an anchor charm to remind me of my sisters.

Wear the Badge when you can!

Our rules and regs say no patch pockets. Slacks and polo or dress shirt are fine!

When I did not have enuff money to put in my pocket, I wore Jeans and a Sweater one time. Caught Hell! I just said screw it, I am going to get my Badge and wear it # 4 said if you are going back to Motel, tell Connie to give you mine! We Both wore our Badges proudly right or wrong! Not proper dress attire, but I did wear it proudly!

To say, it seems that Young people do not wear the Letters or Badges on Campus!:(

Hello, that is Advertising your beleif in Your Greek Org!:)

I wear mine several times a week

I have it on a pendant and I wear it with nice business casual.

I haven't worn my in a long while :( I just bought a new one before I came over here too. But I don't have an alumnae group over here and no college stuff so I don't wear the badge. When I move back to the states I am going to join an alumnae group and will wear it w/ pride!

Yes, they were NPC groups. But after reading the other posts, I'm thinking that maybe I was seeing just pledge pins with letter shirts. Since I wasn't a member, I probably didn't realize the difference at the time. Once I had "ruled out" Greek Life for myself, I sort of stopped paying attention. Plus, it's been awhile! Thanks for the responses.

I wear mine to work and anywhere else that I feel it would have been approitate to wear while in college. I work in a business casual office (no jeans) and my badge is more like a piece of jewerly. Since my name starts with an A most people think that it is my inital but if they ask about it I will tell them. My badge is set with pearl seeds and a diamond so it kind of sets the rules as to where and with what I can wear it.

But I am also a girl that wears diamond ear rings with jeans. Go figure...

My mom used to say about nice jewelry, "It's not doing anyone any good in your jewelry box." She wore all her nice stuff with whatever she felt like, and loved it.

life's short. :)

MereMere21 09-09-2003 12:10 PM

:( scrubs aren't badge attire so I never get to wear mine :(

The last time I wore mine was to a funeral 2 weeks ago....I wish I could wear it more! I love my badge!

Your mom is/was a very wise woman! Why have nice jewelry if you won't or can't wear it?

I wear my badge to formal sorority events (meetings, etc.) and any other time where I'm dressing up and it would be appropriate. I wear my AOII signet ring daily.

ETA--Ariesrising asked earlier about our thoughts on wearing badges with more casual attire. I have no problem wearing them with nice slacks or casual khaki skirts or such (NOT WITH PARTY OR CLUB WEAR, EVER!) as long as an appropriate top and shoes are worn. No jean shorts or short denim skirts, or workout gear.

Badge into ring

There is a special ring band that you can buy. You pin your badge onto and can wear it as a ring. I saw one when I was an active years ago. Now that i'm an alum I have not been able to find one anywhere. If anyone knows where I can buy one please let my know. I have search almost every store online that sells greek goods. Thanks

panel ring

Phi Mu has what they call a panel ring, which is the black enameled part of the badge only on a band. There is a yellow gold and a silver (which could be white gold, I'm not sure).

I have one, which I wear when I look nice, but not something that I'd wear my badge on.

I really like it. It gets more use than my badge because I only wear my badge when I'm really dressed up, whereas I wear my ring when I look nice (khakis, etc.)

Deb

Here's a link to the photo. I hope it works!

You can get that from Masters of Design, they're our official jewelry. There was also an advertisement for it on the back page of the winter Crescent.
