When I taught I had DSQ items in my classroom. Students definitely noticed and asked. :)

There were some at my college but many would not say their org. Don't know why. An English prof I had for three dif. classes was a KKG tho and often made it known. :) Don't know if any of my high of middle school teachers were greek, never heard much mention of it. Oh well...

My third grade teacher was a in Delta Sigma Theta, she went to college with my mother who is an AKA, so my mom use to dress me in pink and green all the time! My screen saver in my class has AKA, so I know my students know, sometimes I wear my sorority jacket to school.

My high school journalism teacher was an SAE at Drake. I went back to my h.s. at Thanksgiving break, wearing my pledge pin, and he said he'd never heard of AGD (which does not have a chapter at Drake).

I am about to become a greek teacher, this is my internship year! But I shy away from mentioning my affiliation while at school...I worry that the negative connotation associated with greek life may concern the administration, I am afraid they may think I am a raging alcoholic or something...I live in a very rural, conservative area:rolleyes:. However, my cooperating teacher from my field placement last year was part of an african-american sorority when she was in college, and one of my professors is a sorority girl as well, though I forget which. Oh and I just remembered, my high school spanish teacher was a ZTA.

Well, I am a greek teacher :)

My piano professor who was also one of my music ed professors is a DZ from Alabama. She is quite old. I think she is about 80! It was fun to have a professor (and an OLD one at that) call me her sister in class! I think she is just great!

Going to school in TX, I am sure that more of my teachers are greek, but I was unaware/young/uninterested at the time. One of the teachers at the school where I student taught year before last is a ZTA and one of the Early Childhood profs in the school of Education at UH is a young DZ (like early '30's. I hear she uses pink and green transparencies...EVERYONE knows she is a DZ.

One of my college professors from when I was an undergrad is an Alpha Gamma Delta. She brought one of her formal pictures from her college days into class one day. She looked so cute! :)

I had teachers who were in AKA, Delta Sigma Theta, Kappa Alpha Psi, & Pi Kappa Alpha. My guidance counselor was a DG and my Activities Director was a KKG - both wrote recs for me.

When I was a teacher, I rarely brought in any Greek stuff, mostly because I didn't have any stuff to bring in. If I did, I'd get asked "What's K Triangle?"

well, in school, i never knew if any of my teachers were greek. i am, however, a greek teacher. i really don't bring anything phi mu related to work and i don't discuss it with my students.....lol, but they are only in preschool and kindergarten! all of the teachers know that i am greek, tho. i wore my pin for badge day and i wore my phi mu flip flops for "beach day." and how could i forget that at my last job, EVERYONE knew i was greek bc i wore tshirts every day!!! again, i never discussed it with my students.

I don't have ZTA letters in my classroom, but I do have a lot of strawberry items. I told my students on the first day of class that I am in a sorority. So far they havn't asked too much about it.

Hopefully I can encourage some of them to go greek in college as well!

My high school Home Ec teacher was an Alpha Phi, my kindergarten teacher was a KKG, my high school English teacher was a KD, and some of my camp counselors from summer camp in TN were KKGs, DGs, & Tri Delts.

This is similar to my experience. My 8th grade Social Studies teacher is a Delta Sigma Theta, and she did almost the exact same thing when she taught us about ancient cultures. We had to memorize greek letters, and the whole class though it was funny the way she would stress certain letters. :)

I had teachers from the NPC and NPHC all through school. One of my favorite people in the world wasn't a teacher, but she advised the all of the student media at my alma mater. She is a VERY proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and often told me stories about how the BSU (baptist student union) and KKG helped save her life during her Freshman year. I used to catch her singing "Oh, Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma, I'm so happy that I am a..." sometimes at work!

I lost touch with her after she moved to Canada.. so if any Kappas can tell me how to find her again, I'd really appreciate a PM! *lol*

My school had two Alpha Phi Alpha teachers, one of whom became my sponsor.

There was one Omega Psi Phi...the track coach was a Phi Beta Sigma...and the Attendance Counselor was a Kappa Alpha Psi.

I don't remember any Zeta Phi Betas or Sigma Gamma Rhos. HOWEVER....

One assistant principal, two gym teachers, my math teacher, the chemistry teacher, and a few more...all Delta Sigma Thetas. And....one assistant principal, my physics teacher, my biology teacher, three or more english teachers...all AKA's.

THEY NEVER LET YOU FORGET.

In high school...

...our headmaster was an AXO (from 'Bama). I didn't realize it until I saw her in the Lyre--incidentally enough, the first one I received as an initiate.
...one of my coaches was a DZ, another was a Tri-Delt (I think).
...two or three teachers were KDs.
...one of the guidance counselors is an AKA.


Each spring, there was a presentation given by our Alumnae Panhellenic to introduce women to Greek Life, and let us know the deal with our recommendations, along with rush tips that I've heard on GC. Usually, each of the Greek teachers would wear the NPC "Go Greek!" buttons that day, and attend the presentation.

When I was in 6th grade our social studies teacher gave us extra credit for knowing the greek alphabet. I don't remember her ever mentioning that she was greek, but I also didn't care much about greek life then, either.

When I was in hs I remember my band director talking about his fraternity experiences once. He said something like "one of the stupidest things I ever did..." and was talking about some funny pledging stories that involved wearing burlap underwear for a week and other things that were obviously hazing. At the time, I still had no real interest in greek life, so I didn't think much of it. Although after a few years of college I was like 'I wonder what fraternity he's in". Being that he's a band director, I'd say Phi Mu Alpha is a possibility, but I haven't seen him in years, and I do intend on asking whenever I do see him again.

Other than that, I don't recall ANY of my teachers EVER mentioning it.
