The Autobiography of Malcolm X
I Make My Own Rules by LL Cool J Bad As I Wanna Be by Dennis Rodman |
[COLOR=crimson]Along with Assata and Coming of Age, I loved Taste of Power by Elaine Brown. We got to see another side of the BPPSD.
I just started "Open Wide the Freedom Gates," but I know i'm going to love it. |
I recommend LIFE or DEF by Russell Simmons. I read it last weekend and found it very informative about Russell's life, hip hop history, and his business mentality. I see him as so "straight laced" and quiet that some of his words were shocking as well as parts of his past.
Overall I still recommend it. It had some great pictures in it as well. |
Soror Height's Open Wide the Freedom Gates is one of the best I have ever read.
Not sure why I did not list it before I loved Autobiography of Malcolm X. |
My American Journey - Colin Powell

I've read so many books, I can't remember them all. Here are few that come to mind:

Wrapped in Rainbows - Zora Neale Hurston
Betty Shabazz - the biography. This was VERY interesting to me because I got a sense of who she would have been had she not married Malcolm. |
