There are tons of places we should be trying to recolonize at, a lot of our single letter chapters have closed, and although we will never get alpha, beta, or gamma back we really should really try to recolonize. Many chapters such as DZ have been colonizing at strong schools lately and have been successful. I realize that the cost of a house goes into the decision to colonize but I really think we should be trying to recolonize at least once every 2 years.

Why don't we find schools that don't have house but a strong greek system (dorms or floors), and recolonize there first? Once we get more chapters that means more money rolling in NHQ then they can recolonize at strong greek system with house.

I agree that this is what they should do. And I think Nationals has the intention of doing this. I can't think of any recent colonizations or recolonizations at a school that has big expensive housing. They're definitely targeting schools with Greek friendly administrations.

i had the same question about expansion/recolonization that ya'll had. i e-mailed the director of expansion and here's the reply she sent me:


Hi Jennifer,

We have a few campuses that we are pursuing at this point, but nothing set in stone. I actually just sent out our presentation binder to North Georgia College and State University today. The process can take a really long time, since we have to wait for college Panhellenics to vote to open for extension. Then if it is a campus we are interested in, we send a presentation binder to the campus. Most Panhellenics will then invite 3 NPC groups to present and one is usually selected to colonize.



How are things at Theta Psi? I was actually on the presentation team at Penn State when we were selected to colonize. I LOVED your campus and all the people I met. I hope your chapter is doing well.



We hope more campuses will vote to open for extension in the next few months.

I'm a sister at Fredonia State (Theta Iota) and was wondering if anyone knew anything about getting us up and running at University at Buffalo. I know they have a group called the Special K's that are trying to get up but i have not a clue if it will ever happen or how they are doing!!!!

THank you for posting that response-- I want to run around and grow little Sigma Kappa chapters across the country-- spreader 'em faster then the violet :-)
