I'm in the Albany area and there were large sections that were without power. I work for a newspaper so we have back up generators but even those were starting to act funny last night! It's funny how there are so many things that we need electricity for--like gas pumps---there were cars on the side of road out of gas last night because of lack of power. Some people were stuck on elevators, traffic lights were out, TV and radio were knocked out periodically and depending on your cell phone carrier no cell phones. There was a pizza place that was giving out free food in our area because of lack of refrigeration. I had to go out and cover funeral homes that had wakes last night during the blackout. There were quite a few that were not cancelled---the relatives were understanding even though some of them were in candlelight and no air conditioning. We got our power back late last night. I spoke with relatives in Detroit and they were also going through the same thing. |

I know the feeling, and on my way home, thank God I made it, I saw thick dark clouds of smoke and fire which was reminiscent of 9/11 but when I got closer to it, it was just routine maintenance that the oil refineries do when they burn off oil. I couldn't imagine being stuck on the subway for 2-3 hours, not knowing what's going on, and having to walk through the pitch dark tunnels with poor air quality, to get to safety. Thank God that everyone made it out alive and safely. |

Oddly enough the state of TX has it's own....now why is that when it's not as large as the state of Cali, is it because of the "Bush" people that use to run that state? I can say this, if you are on an interconnect, and the substaion, or plant does go out due to fire, or flooding, everyone on that interconnect will be without power. What I don't understand is......how did this happen? I mean our PJM interconnect is monitored like crazy. So you know we here in the southeastern part of PA were put on alert right after all this happened. |
Finally the Power is Back! The Millions and Millions of the Sphinxpoets Fans are back as well.

Our power just came back on. But just as it did, some crazy abducted a 14-year old girl, so now we have an Amber Alert to worry about.

Power is on...
As it was, I was trying to catch a flick, SWAT, when the power went out. I am in Toledo, and most of our lights were out and power was out all over the city. I'm just glad I wasn't at Cedar Point on a ride...
