Ya'll make me feel like a looser. I just took the pragmatic approach that my big brother gave me. It's not pretty, but it worked. He asked me who I thought the weakest active was, then compare myself to them. If they could get through it, couldn't I? I went through a really rough pledgeship. It did get me through. Wish I'd had a bibile quote or something.

To LifeSaver, dont feel like a loser because you didnt have what we had. Everybody had a different approach to being motivated and whatever it was, it worked, and thats all that matters.
To preppie: You dont HAVE to have a motivational thought. But it does help a lot of people. Its not that pledging is a horrible thing, but many factors (the huge amounts of information, the tasks put before you, and simple the enormity of what is being put before you) can sometimes be overwhelming for certain people. Sometimes you may question "Is it really worth it?" In the end, I hope, every Greek you meet will tell you that it is very much worth it. Sometimes, people just need a drive behind them. And aside from that, everyone's intake process is different. Maybe some people's is so difficult, they NEED something inspirational to keep them going.

Wow, nearly everyday of my pledge period I was like "this is too fly, I am so happy I did this." It was, well, enjoyable (for the most part). I did not need any other special motivational thoughts except, "when it's all said and done and I'm initiated, then I can participate in everything more fully." And everything wasn't fun, but it wasn't so bad. I never expected everything to be 100% fun because life in general is not 100% fun. But we had a lot, A LOT of laughs and a few hardships (that's life, right?) and some lessons to learn (life teaches you without you even having to ask it, you know?).

Was I being too poetic? I always get that way after reading a good book. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I know this sounded very cheesy, but during line, all i kept thiking was Bambi. The disney cartoon. I was into meditation and for some odd reason Bambi kept on comming back. Plus another motivational thought is that I wanted to know all the secrets. Just my $9.99 plus tax.
